Have you traveled to any Communist country recently? IE: Cuba, etc.

Funny!!! I was in St. Petersburg, Russia less than a month ago. But I kinda recall my tinnitus starting in ‘88. I was at a friends house on Vancouver Island outside of Victoria. She told me to take her kayak out for a paddle. In less than 10 minutes I turned it over and kinda froze in the Puget Sound (?) waters. Don’t remember how I got back to shore but a few months after that incident is when the tinnitus started. :<((((
“scam”. pardon my paranoia I don’t/didn’t want to use the word.
Sometimes it sounds like an FT-4A at military power, I get 3 or 4 tones going in both ears sometimes. SCREAMING sometimes. Beyond the initial damage, pain killers, NSAIDS, anti-depressants are definitely involved and are usually listed side effects of a large amount of pharmaceutical meds.
I’ve read several times that tinnitus is a result of the nerves from the ear receptors to the brain going haywire or deteriorating. Fixing the nerve situation is why, so far, there is no cure.
Why?
Thanks.
I could almost document the amount of NSAIDs I’ve taking by the amount of tinnitus I have.
I was going to try the levo system. Has anyone had any luck?
Iodine deficiency (in addition to hearing damage).
Long story short: Among the many symptoms I reversed “accidentally” in my 8-year health recovery were a number of symptoms resolved when I realized that I’d suddenly become afflicted with severe hypothyroidism. I later learned that I’d been suffering mild symptoms of hypothyroidism my entire adult life. It’s just that the changes I’d imparted upon my health had the ironic effect of worsening some symptoms as I addressed others (there is a clinical approach for my method which I am intentionally-avoiding elaborating upon here).
In short, after much research I settled upon a form of Icelandic Kelp to serve my iodine requirements since I was (allegedly) deficient. I began at USRDA (2mcg) and over a period of 8 weeks increased that to 20mcg (you read that right, 10x USRDA). For me, at that state of my health it wasn’t until I reached 20mcg that I saw any change whatsoever.
Suddenly (when I write suddenly, I MEAN “suddenly”) ALL of the symptoms of hypothyroidism were gone. I’m talking within a mere week. Another symptom which reversed in the same time period: Sensitive teeth. My entire life I DREADED the dentist’s pick. Now I feel NOTHING, normal like most everyone else. Dry skin: Gone as well in a few months. That includes the scabby elbows I’d attributed to age, as well as horrible problems with my feet.
It was months later when I had a single bout of tinnitus that I realized it had improved that symptom as well: At the worst of my health decline I was having tinnitus episodes near daily after awaking, usually in the morning (after bouncing off of the wall from loss of balance). Now I can’t remember the last time I had an episode of tinnitus, but I’m sure it’s only been twice in the prior 2 years since my health recovery.
Grain of salt? (no pun intended) Perhaps.
It’s all true. And I’m not selling anything. But one caveat: the Iodine was in conjunction with a comprehensive lifestyle change as well as eradication of a gut parasite.
However, there have been 2 times when I ran out of iodine and procrastinated going to the store to get more. Both times my teeth became more sensitive and I experienced tinnitus.
FWIW.
OTOH...there's nothing wrong with my thyroid ( yes, I've had it checked ), I've used iodized salt ALL of my life, and my Tinnitus is almost a constant companion and has been for well over the past 30 years.
My old college room-mate developed Tinnitus about 8 years earlier than I did and neither one of us were ever around very loud sounds, wore/wear headphones, had any of your problems, nor anything else that is claimed to be the trigger. OTOH...I did take a LOT of aspirin, due to a dental problem and have been told that THAT could have caused it.
Tried a few “remedies” but the ringing seems to be a fact of life these days.
There are some ways to get some relief. I talked to a nurse that had hearing aids that had been tuned to his hearing so it tuned out much of his tinnitus. At night when he took off his hearing aids 30 minutes later it would come back.
Thanks! That helps MY perspective.
This thread was interesting from a couple of weeks ago.

93.7% of statistics are made up on the spot !)
The one thing I found that seems to help with symptoms and prevention is a daily dose of 20 mg lutein. Lutein is usually recommended for eye problems but when I took it it seemed to help my tinnitus. I take it daily and an extra dose when I will be doing something loud. I could just be seeing a placebo effect but I have used it for years. I am not an M.D. so try it at your own risk.
Chemical damage is damage nonetheless.
That sucks.
It’s rotten, but since there really isn’t anything that can be done, I live with it and just carry on.
Name one that is not a scam ...
