My family, with some others from Cub Scouts, hiked to the top of a waterfall a few weeks ago. There were signs posted regularly from the base to the top and well back from the drop-off, warning people to stay out of the water to avoid injury or death ... but there were still people getting in the water and taking pictures.
If they had 1/2 million YouTube subscribers and over 1million on Instagram then they most likely were not lacking from advertising income.
But did they get it on video?
Sometimes an accident is just an accident.
I had a business associate who went camping in a state park in California and awoke in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Unfortunately he did not take his flashlight, took a couple of wrong steps and went over a cliff.
Stuff like that unfortunately happens.
“were swimming ...when they slipped” I don’t think so.
These are definitely Darwin award winners. They definitely weren’t smart enough to pour p!ss from a boot with instructions on the heel. One look at that waterfall should tell you that the water current above is too strong to overcome, and when you go over the edge it will beat you to death on the way down.
Unfortunately, some people can’t grasp the physics of flowing water. I’ve seen a few people beaten black and blue in some of the rather tame creeks and streams here in the Texas hill country. Famous last words heard before a trip to the emergency room usually go like this: “Aw, I can swim. It’s not over my waist. Hold ma beer a minute..”
Were they millennials?
Were Tide Pods involved?
And the third genius, Ryker
I don't think they enjoyed their "falls".
They did all this silly (dangerous) stuff for $$$ and fame.
They all beg for public donations and GOFUNDME.
Youtube begging is on every Youtube video. Annoying.
Yes, trust fund babies. Never got to learn about payroll deductions.
A couple of years back most successful YouTubers were making decent incomes from ad revenue. Then the Wall Street Journal went ballistic over an innocent joke gone bad by YouTube's biggest channel (Pewdiepie) and the ad revenue shriveled up.
YouTube is no longer a moneymaking proposition for most tubers, even those with large subscriber bases and lots of views. See: Demonetization.
So YouTubers are forced to flog their PayPal accounts, Patreon accounts, and GoFundMe campaigns. Also, more YouTubers are including ads within their content rather than hoping YouTube will supply the ads.
It's the only rational response to the irrational behavior of supposedly intelligent CEOs and SJW-central at Google/YouTube.
Most people don't understand the extreme danger of a waterfall or dam. When water falls over the edge, it entrains air. At the bottom, the water is white from all the air bubbles it contains. This water is significantly less dense than normal water, and even the best swimmer CANNOT swim to the breathable air above. Even Olympic swimmers will drown in the water below a waterfall or dam.
Video or it didnt happen.
Hey, I kind of like 14th century French art.
Im sure there is video of them acting stupid, but withheld in respect for the dead idiots. Their friends will declare that while often they did some stupid stuff, this time they were victims and had been acting responsibly for the most part. Such a tragedy as theyd talked about growing up and taking more useless college classes.
In the past couple of weeks there have been 3 killed going over the top of waterfalls here in the mountains of NC.
