Until colleges (who collect taxpayer dollars) get their asses out on the field to show respect to the country during the anthem instead of hiding in the locker room, they can kiss my ass.

I picked up guitar in high school to impress a girl. It didn't work, but it has led to a lifetime of enjoyment. Coincidentally, the girl wound up going to college at the University of North Carolina. I went to visit her there one weekend in the hope I could finally make some progress. When I got there I found her sitting on the knee of the star quarterback of the team, whom I learned she was dating. Story of my life. :-)

John was equally a dork when he was out tossing around a football and wearing a wet-suit with a surfboard under his arm. It’s all good if you don’t do that stuff, it’s being a blatant faker that is totally lame. I have to give him some credit, he didn’t look as wussy as Obama when he was riding a purple girl’s bike and sporting a grin that screams, “It’s easy to grin, when your ship comes in...”
I don’t believe for a second that hard hits make you commit crimes like the NFL thugs and their scumbag lawyers always try to tell us. If that were true, Steve Young and Joe Montana (two guys that left the game because of concussions) would’ve been caught running drugs and robbing stores while on parole. I don’t doubt that getting hit in the head is bad for you but it makes you commit crime? That’s completely assinine.
No joke, how many of those guys have substance-abuse problems? It’s probably easier to list the ones that don’t.

Not to be too indelicate, but, that story isn’t about every high school. If you think it must somehow extend to all of them then you’ve got a lot to prove.
It’s bad and there are bad people. I’ve got a number of teachers in the family and per them hellions seem to happen in waves so it should be no surprise if a group of especially sadistic bastards came up together. It’s a bell curve thing.

My son played lacrosse because there wasn’t football. We all fell in love with the sport. In one game, a ref called a foul and announced the player’s number and said “attempted murder.” It was pretty much it, but great, great fun to watch, and a fascinating American history to it.
Love college ball, but the NCAA swamp needs to be drained also
Actually WWI is what built the popularity of football. It was used to build unit cohesion. Every training camp and outfit had its own team. A sport that was formerly played by rich kids in elite eastern colleges was played by farm kids and city boys from all over the country and the popularity soared after the war.
I’ll always remember that hit on Joey Kent.

We’ve been there FRiend. Before I discovered the “joining varsity teams gets you chicks” concept, I used to work for Subway, my first job ever.
In comes the hottest girl in school and the time she looked at me, she kinda felt sorry for me of some sort LOl. After that, I took another part time job at my mom’s company scanning docs after begging her due to embarrassment..
