Russia is getting worried about approaching American energy dominance and President Trump's effort to promote U.S. energy supplies on global markets. Recent comments by Trump to NATO regarding the Nord Stream II, a project to build another pipeline to bring Russian gas to Western Europe, have roiled the Kremlin, and Merkel for that matter.
The price of the US liquefied natural gas (LNG) for Europe will be 30% higher than Russian fuel at the very least, Russian Permanent Representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov said in an interview on Monday, reported Russian state news agency TASS...

The Europeans will be happy to know the Russians don’t dictate their energy bills. They are welcoming the Americans to step in and provide competition.
Obammy would have never done this.
I think Trump is way out of line on this.
Let Russia have trade and sell their gas and oil to the EU.
I certainly do not want to strong arm anyone to buy our stuff.
If this is about funding NATO? Stop funding NATO.
there is no competition here. American prices are much higher.
It is in Europe’s interest to stop funding Putin and his crony globalist oligarchs and their Iranian allies, plus Chinese partners.
The Russians have their tentacles everywhere from Venezuela to Nicaragua to Middle East of course, North Korea. And this is often via ENERGY trade and provisions.
Trump’s “America First” policies are actually good for Europe too, politically and economically. China/Russia must be reined in NOW.
I just had a brilliant idea.
Have the Russians build our Mexican wall, and we will back off of their energy markets.
It would make liberal heads explode like watermelons crushed by a tank.
A country that has the economy equivalent of Texas does not need to be boxed in as Germany in the 20s and will, like Germany between the wars, become dangerous and unstable if boxed in.
We have our own global oligarchs, and we have our own overseas interests and financial ties.
I love my President!
Best. Election. Ever!
That will change. American energy exports are just ramping up.
The specter alone of increasing American energy imports puts pressure on Russians to keep their pricing friendly.
At a time when Europe is abandoning nuclear and coal power, it will become dangerously reliant on Russian natural gas if the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is its major source. Anyone who doubts that Russia would use its “hold up” power to strategic advantage should ask the Ukrainians about their experience.
“At a time when Europe is abandoning nuclear and coal power,”
Yeh ! They’ve had such success with wind/solar U no....
I prefer the dime(s) and NOT the 30/40 cents elec costs over there...
Not our issue.
If they are stupid, they are stupid.
Forcing EU residents to pay 40 or more cents a gallon more for their gas and have it be crappy LNG rather than nice piped in gas, is a way to make big enemies.
This is a big mistake.
You heard it here first.
Trump’s point is that we are subsidizing Europe’s military defense against the Russians while, at the same time, Europe is making “stupid” deals that put it at risk of either economic capitulation to or military conflict with Russia. Why should we subsidize their stupidity? And if is in our strategic self interest to have Europe free from Russian domination (and that, after all, is why the Cold War was fought), then why should we be silent while it makes such a stupid mistake, especially with our financial support?

I don’t think we should be subsidizing their defense AT ALL.
I am not sure it is in our interest to have Europe free of Russian domination. I am not sure it matters anymore.
And I am not sure Russia wants domination, I think they want money and trade. they are a poor large country. They also have to fight the Moslims.
If the stupids want to close down their other ways of generating power, well they deserve what they get.
They are in the process of being dominated by Moslims.
Let the stupid live with the consequences of their stupidity.
There is no moral equivalence between this country and Putin’s set up especially with Trump in office.
Putin’s set-up is fundamentally tasked at underminng the *sovereignty* and independence of other nations including ours. And via pipeline, they want control of European energy while maintaining their destabilizing influence of neighbor states which the pipeline conveniently bypasses.
Trump’s set up is designed to empower our own country, and in turn task other countries to be their better, independent, more competitive selves.
Trump is doing a service for our interests and the global economic order at large by taking the oligarchs to task for their overreach — it also helps the Russian people in the long term, take back control of their resources from these thieves.
No! On Nordstream 2 and dictatorship of Russian energy.
No! On China dominance.
“A country that has the economy equivalent of Texas does not need to be boxed in as Germany in the 20s and will, like Germany between the wars, become dangerous and unstable if boxed in.”
I remember the same arguments used against Reagan’s policy towards the USSR in the 1980s. “Don’t poke the bear!” “Economic sanctions against the Russians will start WWII!” Then the USSR imploded, and the people of Central and Eastern Europe were freed from Soviet tyranny.
“I am not sure it is in our interest to have Europe free of Russian domination.”
I don’t know how to begin to respond to such a statement. If that is your opinion, then I don’t have much more to say.
You are wrong to disagree
