Large bovines can eat a bale of hay per day, and they equate humans with food. Those cattle probably were thinking it’s feeding time and moved on in to get fed.
I use to help out a friend whose herd got up to 60 head. I can remember pulling into the field, not much happening, until I started to unload the vegetables we got from a company that sold packaged salads. They (the cows) went nuts looking for the carrot tops, like if it was some type of drugs. I can still remember the sound of thunder from there hoofs, charging the truck, and I'm on the ground spreading the pile, to give them all a fair shot at the pile, shaking in my boots, until they slowed down. :-)
