Given that there are 365 days a year and weather records go back maybe 200 years at best and you have 730 chances to set a record (either a new high or low temp) in any location around the world rhe chances are good records will be set. That is just air temperature alone. Other variables like precipitation and wind offer other chances to set records. If we had thousands of years of data the chances of records would be much less. If you start a new location to record temps the first year every reading sets a standard. The second year probably every other day a new record is set and so on.

I would surmise that the Rocky and Bullwinkle script writers couldn’t come up with a more creative (and humorous) name than Koochiching County, where International Falls is actually located.
