The moment the photo of her was released, leftists started passing around pictures of her with friends/family, one of whom doing the supposed white supremacy (OK sign) sign were spread far and wide. This is a horror on so many levels.
There is no way for a reader to know if this woman committed a crime; that will have to be determined.
It does seem the woman has no business being a police officer and carrying a gun.
Police officers need to demonstrate they are braver and more capable than the average person they are likely to meet.
This woman misidentifies where she lives (repairable) but then opens fire when she sees someone moving around (not repairable).
A trained 12-year old child should know better than to shoot before the target is identified.
I suspect the real culprit is the Dallas police department that gave this woman a badge and a gun for some reason other than she had above average courage and skill. Someone in the police department probably saw something in this officers' behavior earlier but refused to say anything.
Hopefully she has a lot of time in "government housing" before she needs to send out resumes. At best it is manslaughter if she truly made a mistake. Any intoxicant in her blood while she is an armed agent of the state I would bump it up to at least second degree murder.
How did she not realize he was already dead? (see title)
she shot the dead neighbor? why? he was dead already../s proofread.
Her trial will be interesting.
I can’t wait to read about her defense strategy.
Is it a crime to shoot a dead person?
12 hour shift and years in a super-dangerous high-stress cop job. She’s probably hyper-vigilant, wound up tighter than a dollar watch, all the time. Being surprised by having a stranger come to the door of what you believe to be “your apartment” late night, leads to a fast fight response. Sad.
Bet on it being a relationship somehow and she offed him. Maybe he broke it off and/or hes married/already has a girlfriend
I bet it was an apt complex and she walked into the wrong bldg....maybe new renter there...only thing that makes sense.
Apparently what happened is:
She goes to the wrong door, her key doesn't work (naturally)
The guy hears her trying to open his door, goes to the door, and opens it to see what's going on.
She is startled to see (what she thinks is) her door being opened from inside, and a large black guy inside her apartment.
She draws and shoots.
Since she wasn't inside at the time she shot, it has not yet registered that its not her apartment.
Quick draw McGraw
Oh yeah, because men have never done anything stupid on the police force.
State Senator Royce West also raised the racial aspect of the shooting, telling a press conference on Saturday: 'Is this a white on black crime? Yes,' he said, according to the Star-Telegram.
She must have been drunk or on some Med of some kind. Horrible. Deserves whatever punishment she gets.
The department put her on an elite squad, the only woman in that squad.
That was my first thought, but another freeper told me I must be a liberal conspiracy nut.

I can’t wait for the results of the investigation to determine that Mr. Jean was at fault for being in his own apartment and answering the door in a threatening manner.
Well, then, good thing you are not in my living room....
A firearm in any other condition is an expensive hammer.
We digress. The investigation by the Rangers will likely shed more light on this situation than the IA version. Manslaughter or Murder1/2, I’d bet there is more to come.
As far as the post referring to some relationship, well, who knows, but hopefully we shall see. If there was, then the ante goes up dramatically for the cop girl.
Given that his family apparently has some political pull in their home land, methinks perhaps the Feds will take a peek too.
