I feel like the dumbest human being who ever walked the face of the earth,' said Tom Ballance, who owns a restaurant in New Bern, on his decision not to evacuate.
“I’m a Florence Survivor!”
A lot more than that are going to feel that way when Christ returns. You can beg and beg and beg them to turn back to God and they simply refuse. Going to be worse than Florence. It’s all so sad. Facebook, Google and such like leaders first.
No sympathy for able bodied people who refused to leave
Considering the storm was downgraded from when he decided not to evacuate, that’s saying something. He’s admitting he would have died if the the 140mph wind and 30ft storm surge had happened.
Those who refuse to evacuate and then require rescue should be cited and fined. But ...that would look bad. Sigh.
All deaths could have been avoided.
These people piss me off.
> five people have been killed
I can’t believe they allowed this to be published. It’ll still be on the internet when they claim Trump killed 5000 people with this hurricane in addition to the 3000 he killed in Puerto Rico. Snopes can’t correct every “mistake”, no matter how hard they try. They’ll figure out the internet some day. /sarc
They were probably following some crazy FReepers screeching about defending your property at all costs.
Not much changed on the inland effects. They still get all the rain and rain-caused flooding. The storm weakening just means a little less wind and coastal storm surge damage. But the inland rain and flooding will seem to some out of proportion to the meh Cat 1 storm.
Probably fewer than usual people died in the area as there were likely no traffic incidents and fewer medical emergencies as most people evacuated and were not there.
No doubt. New Bern where he is from is close to the coast, very susceptible to surge. People wanting to ride it out should at least be aware of what they are in for.
Worst damage probably yet to come from flooding in the Piedmont and hills.
When you heard it had hit land did you ride your bicycle to the coast to help?
Before the hurricane hit NBC was pushing the ‘people can’t evacuate because they can’t afford it’ narrative. They used a family who clearly was NOT living in poverty (you wondered where they were hiding the cigs). Never mind there’s a zillion churches/social service agencies that would help. Get ready to hear more of that.
At the end of this particular interview, and they gave away the game by saying how inconvenient it would be to return home.
Exactly! My mother lives in western NC & they are worried about possible flooding.
There really is no comparison that a human mind could even begin to comprehend as it will be much worse than even that example.
There will be no “I told you so” moments in Heaven, or least no joy in saying so.
They simply will not be there.
You can’t force it on them, and they won’t believe until it is too late.
And until then, they treat us as though we are crazy.
They are welded into the prison cells of their own minds.
Very strong delusion.
Ignore the cottonmouths while you are swimming.
I would at least have a good-size boat moored in my back yard, just in case I am wrong.
If you can step from the second-floor window on the boat, then it’s time to get aboard, start up the motor, and make your escape.
“When you heard it had hit land did you ride your bicycle to the coast to help?”
No, but I’m joining the movement to ban hurricanes.
Also, gotta say, the word “Hurricane” sounds misogynistic and sexist to me... If these old geezer weather people would get out of the way, we could fix the weather.
