I guess it’s just a Southern Thang.....................
Dry and grainy? Oh, you must be referring to those cakey-things at Dunkin’ Donuts.
Krispy Kreme donuts are fried and then glazed. The only time they are dry and grainy is if one got left in the box and was eaten days later. A rare occasion for those who like Krispy Kreme donuts.
I’m also happy to disagree with your assertion that Southerners don’t know how to bake. We do, we just don’t waste our considerable talents on baking a little donut when frying and glazing works so well.
Peach
Krispies blow, as do Dunkies. You have to go to a local independent / small chain to get a decent donut. Here in Phoenix we have BoSa, which is awesome!!
“... but at least Dunkin is better.”
BS. You obviously wouldn’t know a doughnut from a hockey puck.
Duck Donuts in North Carolina are the best donuts in the world.....
Give me a donut with some body.
“Many asians put out good donuts here”
Cambodians, mostly. And yes, they’re good.
Same here. It’s just a donut. Nothing fancy. If the donuts were served by blonde hot babes from Sweden, sure...I’ll be there every morning LOL. The only food items that have kept their legendary ‘HYPE’ status is Chick Fil A and In N Out here in L.A. There’s more but I wont drive there just for the hype of it..
I’ve been going to the same donut shop here in L.A. for the past 10 years until recently. Absolutely fresh and I talked to the chefs once in a while.
Got bought out by a new management team. White chick. The original owners were Taiwanese but I could see in their faces they were tired of having the shop open 22 hours EVERY DAY, and sort of knew it would affect their health.
The added headache is at 2 am, its full of trannies and crack addicts...but the donuts are fresh baked. Still tring to find my next fave donut shop here...
The best baked goods I’ve ever had: The Dutch bakeries in Pella, Iowa. I hear that the Amish bakeries, especially in Philadelphia are good too.
They making these with potatoes in them?
I am a do-”nut”. Meaning I could never pass by a donut without desiring to eat it. The one exception is a Krispy Kreme donut. They are greasy and tasteless. Never understood the popularity. Oh well....to each his own I guess.
Same thing here in the Phoenix area. We have a local donut chain called Bosa Donuts. They are about the best donuts I've ever eaten.
Although my daughter lives in a suburb of Seattle and there is a local bakery that I would have to name as the best donuts I've ever eaten.
Interestingly, the local KK still has it's "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign, even though they no longer make the donuts there, but instead at some central facility. False advertising at its worst.
There is a franchise just developing in our area called The Fractured Prune that originated on the east coast. They're meant to be served warm and "made to order" - meaning they have a base donut and several options of toppings and are made as you wait.
I bought some because a friend of my daughter owns one of the franchises. I guess I really don't care for "hot donuts" right out of the fryer, because I wasn't impressed.
I've had Dunkin' recently, and it sucked. The doughnut was worse than the worst mass produced product at a Walmart. Our local Krispy Kreme is great.
Don't get me wrong, I've had great coffee and doughnuts at Dunkin' in other towns, but our only local version apparently didn't get the "how to" memos.
The Donut King was a Cambodian refugee. Rags to riches, then gambled it all away.
