Five minute intro to ‘Sweet Jane’ on Lou Reeds’ Rock & Roll Animal. Guitarists Dick Wagner & Steve Hunter trading licks AND a bass solo! Makes you forget how Lou sings.

"Sweet Child o Mine - Guns n Roses."

Absofrigginglutely. Slash nailed that intro that fit the song perfectly. Now that I think about it, I would put that right up there with Gimme Shelter and may place it above because it's longer and continues after the drums kick in. The base really work well, also.

Just incredible melodic guitar work. I can actually hear an imaginary voice singing lyrics to that long intro. Geeze, Slash takes it to another key after the simple 2 beat drums kick in and before Axl starts singing.

Unless you're a rap or Beyonce pop fan, who doesn't know that intro?

Okay. You win the Platinum Guitar statue for the best rock intro ever. Check your mail and thank you for reminding me. It will be stuck in my head for the day! Thanks a lot...haha.

"You do realize that the Stones' first big hit was a cover of The Beatles' "I Want To Be Your Man"?"

You got that entirely wrong. Lennon/McCartney wrote it with Jagger and Richards in the same room. The Stones recorded it first as a single and went nowhere on the charts. The Beatles shortly thereafter recorded it and it also went no where.

The Stones first hit was "It's All Over Now" in the UK. Written by Bobby Womack and originally recorded by him and his brothers know as the Valentinos.

You're messing with the wrong guy here regarding the Stones. You Silver Beatle types are all the same. Beatles were Rock Gods or some such nonsense. "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", bubblegum. Stones, "Little Red Rooster" bluesy with soul.

I'm a big fan of several of the Stones non-singles:

"The Spider and the Fly"
"Down the Road Apiece"
"We Got a Good Thing Goin'"
"Hip Shake"
"Let the Good Times Roll" (Not sure of that title, because there's a Fats Domino song with a similar title, which was covered by The Animals. One of the lines of the Stones' song is, "The evening sun is sinking low, the clock on the wall says it's time to go."

Among others.

"was that late December back in '63?"

Killing me, but no. It would be 1966 at 16. She was 16 also and I've adored the female body ever since. What guy doesn't remember that mind-frig when first entering. Oh, what a Night...

Another Stones song with a good intro and guitar work throughout (including bass) is “Casino Boogie.” I think I read somewhere that Keith Richards plays bass on that one.

"Fleetwood Mac ~ The Chain"

Never thought of that one, but now that Lindsey's intro lead is wringing through my brain-pan, I'll give you that. Really work for the song. The Rhiannon intro also worked for the song melody.
