When the parasites in New York start trying to suck the blood out of Amazon, Bezos has nobody to blame but himself.

So HQ2 turns out to be two big regional offices.

You work for Amazon. You get the choice, DC area or Queens. Lol

That was a really dumb and shortsighted move. Ouch.

So much for looking at areas with affordable housing for employees. I thought Dallas had the best business case, but this looks like a political decision.

I lived in the Crystal City region for 3.5 years. With the Pentagon crowd, the drive into work was already a massive adventure. Maybe they will be smart enough to buy some parking garage near the Eisenhower METRO station and let the employees park there and ride the METRO the rest of the way into Crystal City.
Affordable housing? I just started laughing. You’d need $400k to get into a decent house. Salary-wise, if they don’t pay over $70k per year...I don’t see anyone taking a job for more than a year or two, and then moving on.
Same way with the Queen decision. So much bad logic. They could have easily picked Dallas or Nashville, and done so much better.

The cost of living in those areas will drive away all but the execs and the independently wealthy.

Maybe the real estate market will return to normal in the Raleigh area now. It’s been crazy ever since Raleigh was named as a potential HQ location. Now hopefully, they can screw up the Apple opportunity as well...

Oh joy, sarc/ Northern Virginia is already horribly expensive and congested. This will make an commute a day long experience unless you can afford congestion pricing which is just breathtaking.

NYS is refusing to reveal how much the state government is offering Amazon in bribes...er, incentives to site in NYS.
Note to Amazon: Expect a court fight after taxpayers find out what Albany has done.

That area of Virginia (just across the river from DC) is hopelessly blue anyhow. Just what the DC Metro area needs, another 25,000 people. Traffic will look like Beijing...

Crystal City = Military Defense Work.
Pay very close attention on this.
