My great-grandfather rolled his own until the day he died in his mid-90’s. His son (my dad’s dad.) had his first heart attack in his early 50s and died of his second heart attack a year later.(Lifelong smoker) My dad had his heart attack mid-60’s and quit, still alive at 75.

I’m just happy it’s one bad habit I managed to miss.

Trump should take credit, quote it with unemployment, and job numbers.

No....quiting drugs or alcohol rates far above that. And lets not forget the pounds they lay on after they quit....now being overweight surpasses smoking as health issue and drain on Healthcare resources.

Being addicted to any substance is destructive - alcohol, tobacco, pot, pills ....and don’t forget food!!!

Obesity is a killer - look around and notice how huge the population is becoming.

I remember the olden days when almost everyone smoked, TV shows were supported by tobacco, Hospital waiting rooms were filled with smoke, airlines were filled with smoke and offered you free smokes with your meals. Dr’s offices filled with smoke. Cafes and cafeterias all filled with smoke.
Then in the late 1971 came the ban on TV advertisements, and in the 1970s and the 80s came product placement in movies. Ever wonder why so many smoked in the adventure movies in the 1980s AND 90S movies such as DIE HARD and BACKDRAFT?

Product placement.

Never got into the cigs, but I like a good cigar.

Also, a whiskey at the end of the day is nice, but I'm much more susceptible to hangovers as I get older. Mother Nature is telling me to go easy on the booze, and I'm sure my liver agrees.

Hard to describe, but the actors just didn’t look comfortable / natural handling cigarettes, the way that smokers do.

Taxing the poor is what the politicians do best.

How many rich people smoke cigarettes? To ask the question is to answer it.

Good. I’ve lost too many family members because they smoked like chimneys.

You can blame our addiction to sugar for the surge in obesity

It's amazing to look back now and remember what it used to be like. Smoke was everywhere. We used to smoke in class at my college. I remember when every restaurant you went to, you were asked "smoking or non-smoking." There was just a haze everywhere you went, and your clothes stank of it.

Used to be a social smoker, but apparently never enough to get hooked. When my now-wife said she didn't like it, I shrugged and never bought a pack again. Occasionally I'd bum one from someone at a party, but haven't done that in probably 10 years or more.

Go look at old pics of NASA’s Mission Control. Ashtrays everywhere. Heck, I remember ashtrays in airline seat armrests.
