See, that’s the problem with reporters today. Key facts omitted from the story.
For example, were the cheerleaders male or female? Was there a racial element involved?
Seems like a 2-9 SEC coach (0-7 in conference play) should have more important things on his mind (like packing up his personal effects in his office) than a couple of players taking selfies with opposing cheerleaders. He even managed to lose to North Texas and Colorado State; his big wins were over Eastern Illinois and Tulsa.
I guess he gets a ‘pass’ this year because he’s a first year of a 6 year contract.
It happened pre-game??
Oh man, I didn't even catch that little detail. Strengthens my case even more.
Coach is just looking for a scapegoat.
The coachs view seems to be that they should have been focusing more on game prep than flirting with cheerleaders. Since they lost 52-6 he might have a point.
The same Arkansas team that was suckered on an assumed fair catch on a punt against North Texas earlier this year. They definitely need to concentrate on football
What? Boys being boys?
They figured they were the only players for Arkansas who had any chance of scoring vs Mississippi State!
Isn’t the main purpose of cheerleaders to try to distract the other team?? Looks like it worked....
They were supposed to flirt with their team's cheerleaders, not those of the enemy.
Best post of the thread...
He must have watched "Rocky"....
You think thats bad? My sons 8th grade coach used to call the team GALS when they played poorly in practice. They were the Gaels. Im thinking it might not go over so well in this day and age. Too many snowflake parents.
Come on, Coach, they were trying to score.
Not guilty !
Would they rather the boys flirted with the boys /sarcasm
#17. Forget remembering the “Scores of any game we played”.
Did you score or was it another shut-out?
Is “flirting” as defined in Arkansas something with local meaning?
#18. As with the cab, I like the one with the Red Top.
Truth be known the Arkansas coach is just using the flirting situation to deflect from his own failure to have his team fit, trained, and in proper condition to compete. To try and blame a few players for the loss is deception. I’d like to see a valid analysis of the loss. Then you can assign blame if you so desire. A better man would use the analysis to start rebuilding the team. I once saw the best highschool team in the US loose to the weakest team in their county, 7-6, in the rain on their homecoming day. It happens. It ended a 56 game winning streak.
By the way after that one loss they went on to win their next 34 games.
