Next year half the new Hallmarks will be about gorgeous gay couples. Mostly gay men because Christmas movie marathoners are women.

“Same movie, different character names. . .but yet my wife records and watches all of those movies.”

Oddly was talking about this earlier. “Wait, this guy was with that other chick, but she’s a witch now, but we liked her..and how can we feel sorry for this one after what she did in the last one..”

It can be hard to keep up with who’s who.

What this tells me is that most of these career city women are unfulfilled and wish for a real man to come into their lives.

Well, duh! And he is handsome and madly in love with you and has a charming business where he can afford a gingerbread-like house in a snow globe-like perfect little town where everyone is nice.

The one I watched last night had a subplot where the fat ethnic (Hispanic?) sidekick woman kind of had a romance with the white old grandfatherly guy in town. I thought it was nice that they dealt with the old lumpy folk too. Don’t get me wrong: the main star-crossed couple who kissed at the end were drop dead gorgeous, of course.

That was amazingly acted. Two cinema greats at the end of their careers. Right after I saw that movie, I saw On Golden Pond and I thought it was hammy, overdone, and just awful in comparison. Thank you for reminding me about that great movie.

“There is no such thing as a gay love story.”

True. Lol

Such a short cycle from “The love that can’t speak its name” to “the love that won’t shut up.” A case study in cultural unraveling...

I discovered these movies when I was at my lowest in life. They made me happy. Like a drug with no side effects. I enjoyed going into the happy worlds. I’ve liked them ever since and my family laughs at me, but sometimes sits down and gets sucked into the cheesy plot along with me.

I saw one with Henry Winkler playing an old cop/father. His comic timing and probably ad libbing raised the quality of the Christmas movie up by 200%. Loved him.

Anne Heche turned straight and dumped Ellen Degenerate.

She has of course been paying for it ever since.

I think I could actually write a Hallmark Christmas movie or two.

One another thread, I talked about a short story draft I have working which revolves around a teenage girl running away from home - from an abusive family - and after a few nights on the street, she ends up breaking into a house that has all the lights off because she is cold and needs a warm place to stay. She wakes up the next morning, looks around, and finds out that the man of the house is on a business trip and that his wife and kids had left him so he lives there all alone. So the girl (who is about 17) decided to clean up the house for him - as it is a complete mess - to show some appreciation. The man shows up before she has a chance to get out of the house and catches her. I struggle with the dialogue in which she talks the man into letting her stay instead of calling the police but the ending is that the two of them develop a relationship and they end up getting married.

Definitely Hallmark material there I tell you. If I throw in a few bells, add a Christmas song and a snowball fight, I'll have written one of the top Hallmark movies next year!

That is a great Bingo card! Everybody wins (by the time the movie is over).

I’ve caught a few reruns of B5 lately.

Still better than Hallmark.

I thought she was straight, then became twisted when she married Ellen. So she's straight again? This is all so confusing.

Keep their relationship Platonic until she’s 18 and the authorities can no longer return her to her abusive family, plus his managing to avoid the charge of harboring a fugitive minor, and it could work.

;^)

Anne Heche’s Wikipedia entry shows she has led a tragic & confused life. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
