In an earlier part of my life in the military, my group had the chance to fly back and forth between Denmark, Norway, and the UK among other places. We used to joke that the Vikings took all the great looking women home with them, leaving the UK depleted.

Well, it made sense, didn't it? If you only had room in the boat for X slaves, you pick the ones you want most, and leave the rest to breed more slaves for the next time you raid.
