The most rememberable part of my first trip overseas was getting to visit the D-Day beaches.
Hope you have a marvelous trip. My friends visited Easter Island last week, and are now on a bus tour with Trafalgar, of some of the South American countries. I could care less about the South American countries, but would love to visit Easter Island.
I had my tubes tied. Who needs a diaphragm, other than for breathing?
If I had ever had the chance to go back to the UK, I would have enjoyed renting a car, and going to as many places as I could in the time I had. I enjoyed Scotland much more than I did Ireland. Got to the Isle of Skye, but would have liked to visit the Shetland, and Orkney Islands as well.
I think both have its benefits. Because traveling alone may open one up to meeting new people in the country of destination. :)
Yeah, that's probably a good bet.
I pilgrimage to Rockwell’s museum in Stockbridge occasionally on my own. I can spend the afternoon and not ruffle anyone.
Nice. I haven’t been there in years, would like to go back. Yes it can be nice to just be on our own in such a place, without having to deal with others who are bored and want to depart quickly. I’ve had that experience in visiting various museums.
hell Yes!! Since my divorce I tried 3 times to go somewhere with a woman and was totally embarrassed each time!! since then I’ve had just wonderful times abroad getting on that plane by myself!! I’ll try again in my next life!
So have I. But I have also have had fun with people who pace well with me.
I linger at museums, however I move fairly quickly when tourist-ing. I look at everything once and then I usually have to go stand outside and wait.
My brother tourists at the same speed that I do. We did Mystic village in one afternoon and had a tremendous meal afterward.
Funny,I just finished watching “Shetland” on Netflix-—never visited the islands though.
I loved Scotland, especially Edinburgh——I really enjoy visiting cities——got to see the Edinburgh Military Tattoo at the castle. Awesome.
Traveling days over for me,though.

The 5th season of Shetland is airing now in the UK. The last episode airs next week. I download British programs from UK torrent sites that I've been a member of for years. The UK also airs a lot of police/detective series from other countries, which I download too. Have you ever watched Vera? All 8 seasons are available via DVD on Netflix. The 9th season of that aired between Jan. and Feb., and Endeavour finished airing the 6th season earlier this month. It's been renewed for a 7th season. Line of Duty is a good cop series. I see Netflix has all four seasons on DVD, but not streaming. The 5th season starts this month, and it's already been renewed for a 6th season.
I haven’t seen “Vera”-——thanks for the suggestions——I absolutely loved “The Fall”.”Happy Valley” and “Broadchurch”-—————lots of good stuff out there.
I love murder mysteries and detest sitcoms-—my kids call it “Mom’s Dark Side.” :-)

I'm the same way. Hate sitcoms. Never watch them. Give me a good history documentary, and British police drama/mystery. Nobody does a mystery like the Brits. The Father Brown series with Mark Williams as Father Brown is wonderful if you haven't seen it. Great fun. Netflix has the first six seasons on streaming. The 7th season aired in the UK earlier this year.
Marcella is another good detective series. Netflix has the first two seasons on streaming, and it's been renewed for a third. I've also enjoyed Peaky Blinders, and Death in Paradise, both which are live streaming on Netflix. Peaky Blinders is a British crime drama that starts out after the end of WWI in Ireland. The 5th season is expected sometime this year.
Death in Paradise is a British-French crime drama that takes place in the French Caribbean. Everybody speaks English. The 8th season just finished airing, and it's been renewed for a 9th and 10 season. This is one tough series, in that they have had quite a bit of turnover in actors over the seasons, but despite that, the stories and new character development are so good that they just blend in well together from season to season. You'd never really notice the difference when one of the regulars leaves the show. It's a small police force, and the Chief Inspector is always from the UK. The most recent Chief is Irish. Love his Irish brogue. It's police drama with some comedy thrown in.
That would suck
I love paddlkng my dear wife around the Caribbean
Then going out to nice dinners on the water m
Find a good girl , boys. And MAKE HER HAPPY
I can recall when people asked me how I could travel by myself. But after a couple trips with others, there was no doubt. You spend a lot of money for your ticket, hotel, etc., and you know what you came for and what you want to do. Traveling with anyone else will mess this up for sure. ALWAYS travel alone.
