There is one big difference. Companies like Google and Facebook were initially funded by the CIA venture capital firm. They get legislative protection from content based litigation that no newspaper, TV, or Radio network could dream of. This is because they are supposedly a -neutral- conduit, exercising ZERO editorial control over content.
Last, the both have huge Government contracts for various IT services.
So basically companies like YouTube (Google) and Facebook are classic fascist elements of an increasingly fascist government. It is the classic public/private partnership. When some activity like suppressing free speech is forbidden to government on paper, they simply call their willing fascist partners who are “private” and accomplish what government wants. In return government gives them MORE protection and occasional fellating sessions like when the Zuckerberg and other Tech leaders appeared before Congress last year.
Of course, everyone forgets Zuckerberg owned half the Congressfools, and Google literally has access to and reads every Google document the Congressmen and their staff create as they prepare.
But keep beating that “tech industry is private and not bound by the first amendment” drum.
The social media are gearing up for the election. They are colluding to interfere with the election.

The government is doing a pretty shabby job if they're quashing that content on FB but leave it up and available to everyone in the world on Jones's own site.
Do you think that may be because Jones's site is his private property and they have to keep their hands off?
The basic Constitutional protection that you're demanding be taken away?

Two years ago, one could find hundreds of videos on You Tube of Muslims butchering Buddhists. All those videos have been scrubbed by the nazis at Google.

Go look up the fake videos of Buddhists hating on Muslims. Sounds like you want to believe the purity and good intentions of the pigs at Google, even though these Nazis gave the ChiComms all the info to slaughter thousands of Falon Gong members in China.
I did, and all I can find are some BBC and other news clips that, as you can imagine, don't show anything approaching butchering.
It isn't about Google's purity and good intentions, it's about their economic self interest in keeping that kind of graphic violence off of what they want to be a family-friendly, mainstream site.
If they could make more money by showing Muslim/Buddhist violence they would, but that would scare advertisers.
No need to look for political motives when profit motives explain their behavior.
