I went to see Jordan Peele’s US.
Peele is more conservative than blacks are supposed to be.
On the surface, US is a zombie-apocalypse horror flick.
A comfortable, middle class black family —(that doesn’t once complain of racism— imagine that!) is attacked by underground- dwelling mirror-people that look exactly like them! They’re the Tethered Ones.
But it’s really a multi-layered metaphor for modern-day America, rich with Biblical & cultural allusions.
Pogo once said “We have met the enemy and he is us.”
We are tethered to our history & to one another. We cannot find peace & are destroying ourselves from within.
A bum with a sign that says Jeremiah 11:11 wanders through the film.
I found it thought provoking & especially loved the ballet scene.

I have to say, I love this guy’s movies, precisely because of his casting choices. His movies feature characters both black and white. But the special thing is, their blackness or whiteness has absolutely nothing to do with the character. They are just “characters”. His casting is very much consistent with Martin Luther King’s wish to see people judged not by the color of their skin but the content of their character.
I know it seems like his recent statement is contrary to that, but I think, effectively, it is true to it. He casts black actors for characters that could just as well be white and visa-versa. When you see his movie (especially US) you really don’t see black or white characters. They are simply characters. This is a beautiful thing, actually.
His movies are, basically, color-blind.
I don’t like horror movies, so I’ll never watch one of Peele’s movies.

It’s “race” humor, but their skits are funny. lol
"Get Out" was a black racist's wet dream.
It would have been a much better film without the racist narrative.
So, now we know for sure, who he is.
Just another black racist. yawn.

Repeat after me: “There is no black racism; there is no black racism in Hollywood; there ain’t gonna be no whities in my films, bro.”
By the way, what’s a movie? Been so long since I went to one I only have a hazy memory of it. Oh wait a second, it was about “patriotic, real Americans” - “Saving Private Ryan”. Never mind!
So race is the secret sauce to his shitty movies?
