Diversity for the sake of a title is racist or bigoted behavior weakening the team to the lowest common denominator with intentional contamination. Diversity when all considered for a role are equal and the choice is because of sex, skin color, whatever, is still racist or bigoted behavior. There will always be metrics that cause applicants to have a ranking. Skin color, sex, religion, whatever should not be one of those metrics. If so, that is bigotry and telling that person they are NOT good enough to make it because of their hard work.
I worked for a company once that was trying to pitch to nice ..
At the time micron has mainly been memory chips but had recently (last few years) been making laptops... out sales guy walked into the pitch meeting with the micro. CEO... who promptly threw the sales persons DELL laptop across the room and told our sales guys to get out.

Yup...don't use Skype for a meeting / call with Cisco, don't use Webex for a meeting with a Microsoft Development partner, etc. I've had individuals think I was micro managing those best practices till a Cisco rep ripped one of my people for not knowing his audience.

Reminds me of when Hazel OLeary was Energy Secretary. She was at a meeting at Los Alamos where she did not let the meeting proceed because there wasn’t a black person in the room she demanded that at least one black person be in the meeting and she didn’t care who. Right now. This very minute. So they jumped to her demand (which was a temper tantrum). Then they could not discuss anything because not everyone had a Q Clearance, since the first priority from Madam Secretary was that there be a black person in the meeting, nothing else mattered.
Look at pictures of the crowds at her concerts and they are all white women.
This may not be true at all. So don’t opine on it to long. She may have wanted more money, and decided a diversity grievance sounded less greedy.
