Cassowary

EMU

Both are dinosaurs. All birds evolved from the ancient branch

The modern Limu is the current evolutionary product wherein a dinosaur is used to sell car insurance

“When confronted with a charging cassowary, kiss your @zz goodbye because you can’t shoot it, because Aussies are mostly disarmed.”

Survival Rule # 2 - Ban deadly birds, snakes, etc, from being brought into the country & those who break the ban are punished by being caged with the living contraband, bird, snake, etc.

What is the point of raising these raptors? Tasty drumsticks?

Living in Florida since the 60's, gators were mainly Okeechobee and south. You used to be able to swim in fresh water ponds and streams, no more. We have Nile monitors, Iguanas, Pythons, anacondas, and lion fish thanks to people releasing exotics pets. My concern now is that someone will release Black Mambas and Nile Crocodiles. And big gators are everywhere, I used to snorkel the Myakka river looking for fossils in the 70's. Now I'd just be chum.

Exactly right!

Just four months ago, I moved into a mountain home that came with eight chickens. Knowing only that they are tasty egg laying birds, I did my homework and discovered that they are distant relatives of the T-Rex.

As I got to know them, I discovered they’re potentially lethal. I’ve hunted most things that can hunt you, but the way these things move...Cheetah speed. Fifty, sixty miles an hour if they ever got out into the open, and they’re astonishing jumpers. Then there’s the one I named “Blue”. That one... when she looks at you, you can see she’s working things out. Oh sure, at first there’s clucking and crowing...then later, there’s running and screaming!

I have seen the cassowary in the northeast Australia wild and there are signs all over warning to leave the area if one is sighted.

I’m thinking slow cooked for Thanksgiving. Could feed 30 people or more. What are you thinking?

I’ve never heard of the breed.”””

Very colorful bird. Seen it many times on Jack Hanna’s shows.

Unlike emus, which reputedly can only kick backwards (no, I don’t believe this either), cassowaries can kick in a forward and downward direction.

My neighbor had 2 emus. Don’t know where OR WHY he got them.

He witnessed the female jump up, lift & kick both of her legs, with her talons out & busy. She eviserated her male partner with just that one attack, and opened him up like a sword might have. Opened him up from top to bottom....one swipe. He was dead in seconds.

Just what Florida needs, more killer invasive species. I'd file this story under "karma".

I once tossed a small snake in my chicken coop. Crazy what they did to it. Dinosaurs is right. Talons sharp.
