I was banned from Nextdoor.com, a neighborhood watch site, during the 2016 campaign for supporting Trump.

How does political bias of ANY kind have to feature on a “Knit and Crochet Forum”? Must everything be ruined by politics?

I got into it because there was a really talented blogger who showcased her stuff there. When she came out as anti-Trump right after the election, I didn’t visit her blog anymore. Now I won’t visit Ravelry.
I’m involved in different needle and textile crafts. Generally, those people are on the conservative side. I don’t see this action as being positive for their industry.
I got flagged there by several ppl over my very bold and brash commentary on pitt bulls and their high rates of killing people
I’m somehow still allowed to post there-LOL
There are a lot of women on there who don’t think much for themselves and feel the need to be in liberal lockstep.
It’s a private company. I don’t have an interest in their business/product. I assume those who use their site/product will boycott. I currently boycott Dicks, Yeti, Levi Strauss, and more I can’t remember off hand.
I tried to join for laughs.

When I was going through treatment for lung cancer, I joined an online support group. One of the women I became friends with in the group had been a member for about 8 months or more. She was dying, and she knew it.
Aside from her husband, she hadn’t seen anyone in a couple months. Her family lived far away, and her friends faded away during her long treatment. So she relied on the friendships she’d made in the group. I had traded personal contact information her. Neither of us had contact info for anyone else in the group.
One day, she asked a question on one of the message boards, about what effect Obamacare might have on her treatment options. She was apolitical, and simply wanted to know what she needed to know for her own care. She didn’t know the moderators had banned the word “Obamacare” the previous day.
She was immediately banished from the group, with no warning. She had never drawn the attention of the moderators before, and was completely blindsided. She couldn’t even contact them to discuss it. So I contacted them, and explained her situation, and they immediately banned me.
I kept in touch with her through email and phone calls, until she died, about a month later.
Leftists are the most evil entities on earth.
Hard to believe that people have become so crazy and vicious.
I have wanted to get more active with my knitting. I heard of this site. I shall NOT join.

I use nextdoor.com a lot. For the most part, people keep politics off in my area.
Nextdoor.com helped me find a refinishing person who did a fantastic job on a 50s era cedar chest. It was something my wife inherited and sat in storage for years.
The top was beat up and to me the lock was broken.
Fast forward a couple of months and it’s been delivered. The chest looks incredible. She got the lock to work. There is a bunch of misc stuff. My wife will go through it sometime.
The inside looks like new. She never had to rework that.
I found a guarantee from the maker in excellent condition from 1951.
Well...my understanding of Next door is noooo politics which is why I have my husband as our contact there...I’d likely get us banned.
