Long view of the garden and greenhouse facing NW:
Cucumbers, 'Diva' and 'Summer Dance' have replaced the 'Sugar Magnolia' Snap Peas.
Lame Pepper Patch this season. They should catch up with this blast of heat we're having.
Perennial bed; mostly Coneflower but a few Lilly and some Salvia and Day Lilly. A row of Gladiolus across the back.
'Bush Champion ' Tomato. I have TONS of gorgeous tomatoes on and I'm betting they ALL are ripe and ready on the same day this season, LOL!
Cabbages and Chard in the foreground, 'Pro Cut' Sunflowers in the rear. Great for cutting; sheds no pollen. Giant Sunflower to the left - I have three really big ones that self-seeded from last season.
Red Romaine lettuce going to seed. This will provide me with a lot of little seedling lettuces to plant for a fall salad garden. Zucchini plants are healthy, and no mildew which is a miracle with all the WET this season! Plants have blossom end rot, though. :(
We are under an Excessive Heat Warning through 8pm, tonight. I have already done some spot watering (we've had 2.5" of rain this week, too!) but my Zukes really need some bone meal, so I'm going to run out and do that now, and then just stew in my own juices for the rest of the day. Literally. ;)
Hot peppers, I take it?
Great recipes, as always! THANKS! :)
I’ll second powdery mildew, if it’s been a wet season for you so far.

I’ve always used a Copper spray for that, and I used to sell a lot of the ‘Serenade’ brand of products for it was well.
We can’t always predict wet seasons, but make sure you don’t crowd your garden beds/rows. Good air circulation is a MUST for healthy plants! :)
Absolutely beautiful....enjoyed the tour.
Thanks! I’ve been working on/adding to this garden for 3 years. I still really miss my well-established garden or 25 years that I left behind at my other farm, but things are coming along.
And, it keeps me out of the bar, LOL!
Yum!
That looks good!
What a great looking garden!
Thanks D.On the road :)
THANKS C.:)
My little garden is a wreck, LOL. Haven’t found soil to transplant some stuff yet. I’ve got to. Getting late in the year.
SOMETHING (several somethings) are growing like gangbusters. Probably poke weed but I can’t yank it out - there are about 15-18 onions down there and I’ll yank them out at the same time. Sooooo, everything is being left to grow.
I DID find 3 tomatoes down there off to a good start. We’ll see what I get from that. I had put a lot of watermelon seeds down there last year but nothing came of it. I was hoping watermelons would come but haven’t seen any yet.
One plant, the leaves DO look like watermelons. Dunno.
They’ve got this mixed-green leaf, as if you made camouflage out of a couple of shades of green.
The year I broke my foot, my garden got SO out of control; there was no way I could tend it when I was supposed to be off my feet for 6 weeks. Luckily, I broke it at the end of August, so the garden was well established and in full swing.
I had a half-dozen friends that would alternate each week to come harvest things and water for me and they got to keep half of whatever they could find.
It was kind of fun, actually! :)
Well, now, using a fake cast after that would be just ... so wrong, LOL
Hard to believe that you have any blossom end rot. You’re so conscious of the health of your soil....

Hey that’s not a bad deal!! Good for you!
What would happen if you clipped off the non-onion plant at soil level?
Gorgeous recipes!
