"...When she was younger, Bronson says she was expected to get married yet never felt that the role of wife fit her. “But I kept trying to squeeze into the mold. I married and divorced five times..."

Well. There might be a reason in that sentence above that sheds light on why she felt she "never belonged". It is pretty clear to me that she is a bit of a hippy-dippy.

That said, this didn't come across as some libturd dressing down the USA to me. It just felt like an ex-pat telling a story. I was all set to jump on it, but when I read it-eh. Different strokes for different folks.

I think there could well be times when being an ex-pat might turn out not to be what it is cut out to be, at least for some people. You don't have much in the way of "rights" beyond what your host country writes on paper. If a mob of people who hate Americans for some reason, you might be safe...you might not.

Unattached older middle-aged women have been known to take these international larks, or even relocate as this woman did, to destinations where she can get sex more reliably from younger men. It’s not front-page news, but it’s not exactly a state secret either.

Correct. They call them “milk bottles” in Jamaica and bedding them is apparently quite the sport among the local lads.

To all of the ‘haters’ (to mis-appropriate a millenial moron term) - hey, lighten up. This woman was (obviously) yet another victim of the 1960’s feminist revolution that wrecked two generations of Americans.

So now she’s retired and chooses to live in a far away place where she can live much more cheaply than in the US. Sounds like a perfectly acceptable choice to me.

And I agree with her about the weather. I’ve been in Northern California (with 8 years in between stationed in South Texas) since 1992 and even this place is getting too cold for me!! If I had to live back in the East coast or Chicago again I think I’d shoot myself!

5 times? LOL. Sounds like getting divorced was her job and the real estate was on the side.

It is always easier to "fit in" when you are rich.

In Bali, she is rich.

Rich people are expected to be eccentric.

LOL, you and I saw it and approached it the same way I did...even to the line that jumped out at us!

Well, five times is a bit much, IMO. I might give it at least two, maybe three tries, but...five?

“The rest of Indonesia is the largest mooslime nation on earth. How much of that seeps into Bali?”

Before WWII, Balinese women went bare breasted. Tops optional.

After Sukarno took over in 1945, they were forced to cover up.

Bali is overrated. But, Indo is a very beautiful country. It’s safe overall. The people are very friendly. There is good and bad in all places in this world.

Why is this news? Thousands of people every day decide they don’t like where they live and move. Why single out this twerp like she’s something special?

An addenda to my last post - I know exactly what she means by “never fitting in”. What common culture America had was largely destroyed in the 1960s by the leftists - and its even got worse since then.

As an immigrant from a place that DOES have a culture I have been aware of that feeling my entire life. Again, I am guessing that she feels that she ‘belongs’ in Bali precisely because it is a place that DOES have a common culture, which at this point in life she identifies with. The fact that its so different from the chaos she’s lived through is kind of the point. THAT is the very reason she probably likes it.

Personally, Texas is the only place I’ve ever lived in the US that felt something akin to ‘home’ (where I lived 8 years courtesy of Uncle Sam). Not so in the East, nor the Midwest, nor California where I am currently stuck due to a successful business that is sadly non-tranferrable geographically.

Having said that the Mrs and I spend up to 2 months in the old country every Summer and plan on living there half the year when we can (finally) retire for real... not as warm as Bali, but hey, the Adriatic Islands of Croatia are pretty paradisey half the year ... and tolerable in the winter ... ;>)

Yep, it’s a whole scene. I don’t know her and shouldn’t judge, but when I saw her pics, I got the Bali milk bottle vibe.

She left in 2012 — during Obama’s reign as God-Emperor. This article is about how to live like a king in other countries when you retire (just don’t drink the water — kidding!)
