“The president is not a lawyer,” she told the BBC in an exclusive interview, adding: “He’s not law trained.”
From the sound of Ginsburg’s opinions she has not been legally trained either. Her “legal” opinions read more like those of someone randomly pulled off a bus and asked what her personal opinion was

He is not to sit there as a ventriloquist's dummy. He is to PRESIDE as all judges do with the power, among others, to dismiss charges against a defendant.

"He's not law trained"Well, that lets him off the hook. How could he possibly break the law given he is not trained? RBG has given DJT absolution.

I agree, she is an arrogant b!tch. I am not “law trained” by which I think she means lawyer.
When I was 20 I defended myself in a bench trial. I won my case and the police went home looking like idiots.
Sorry Baby Ruthie, but in this country the accused has the right to act as his own counsel.

Almost certainly true of the proceedings in the House. I’m curious if the Chief Justice as a finder of fact in the Senate trial, couldn’t dismiss the charges with prejudice? It’ll never happen but it’s a question.

All that she had to do was say that this was not a matter within the jurisdiction of the federal courts. That she said it this way shows her arrogance and contempt for him - and definitely shows her lack of judicial demeanor.
Too bad for you that this non-lawyer is going to replace your old, Leftist ass on the Supreme Court, eh Ruthie!

The Constitution is pretty damn simple, Ruth, it takes an over educated moron such as yourself to shade it up.

“He is to PRESIDE as all judges do with the power, among others, to dismiss charges against a defendant.”
His presidntial power is limited to ruling on the rules provided to him by the Senate.
That is ALL.
The idea a Chief Justice could dismiss impeachment charges is ludicrous. That has never been an interpretation, by anyone.

All the Constitution says is that the Chief Justice "shall preside." In a court of law, the judge can dismiss a complaint or grant summary judgment short of trial, if certain procedural standards are met. The Constitution is silent on that point. I would say with near certainty, however, that the Chief would not exercise such authority if any Senators objected.
A dismissal would likely be by vote of the Senators.
