Yes, Age Discrimination is Rampant: Americans over 40 are half as likely to get hired — and it’s worse for workers over 50

I also wonder if some older workers could be difficult to manage or work with as they may have a chip on their shoulder thinking they know more than all the Millenials, or whomever else they may work with.

... HR people pay the dollar equivalent of the insurance for the "average" employee.

Pay whom? How did you "fire up" Medicare before age 65?

Good for you! It takes a really pleasant personality to handle that work.

I’ll admit I wouldn’t cut it.

“Have you had to work with millennials yet?”

I work with a lot of millennials, and I work in tech. Just like any generation, there are a lot of hardworking and smart people. Appearances don’t bother me, heck, I had ultra long hair and jeans with holes in the 70’s.

#43 But I learned many years ago that women under 40 cost me too much because of child bearing and rearing costs.

Ah... if you stop behaving like Hunter Biden you would have these costs.... : )

I’ve been in IT since 1985, just turned 60 and I’ve seen a LOT of age discrimination. I look younger than 60 but as soon as I meet people in an in-person interview, the interview is over almost immediately. Usually the excuse is, oh, so-and-say couldn’t make the interview so we’ll have to reschedule, which never happens.

I’ve also been a contractor for 30+ years as I prefer contracting, which, I think, makes me more marketable. I get health insurance through the wife.

I’m currently contracting at a very well known company and I’m the only white guy in the large two story building. The managers let me work from home 99.9% of the time so I can’t really complain about that, just wish I didn’t have to renew my contract as often as I do.

My contract was scheduled to end about 2 weeks ago on my birthday of all days, but my H1B replacement who I trained quit days before my contract was supposed to end. I think I’m good for awhile now, but time will tell.

One thing I’d like to have is paid vacations but that’s not going to happen! :-)

Any open tables/counter space? Long time ago - used to go to Waffle House for Steak and overeasy Eggs. Loved dipping the Steak in the Yolks...

Too many young American workers expect their jobs to serve their needs (rather than them helping a company earn money); as a result, many young Americans are idled while young foreigners instead are hired. THEY tend to be more grateful for a position, and have less demands - a sh!tty standard of living here is better than a “middle class lifestyle” in their native sh!tholes.
