So am I. I saw Korn live back in the late 90s 3 times. Their first album is still the best. They gained more fame after the south Park episode hehe

I emphatically agree with everything you’re saying. All kinds of people are sincere followers of Jesus. And nobody has perfect theology. After all, it’s not theology that saves us, but Jesus.

I’m not changing my point at all. The problem is what Bethel Redding calls Christianity.

Looks Christian to me

Brian Welch is a sincere guy. Have you seen “ Loud Crazy Love”?

Instead of being cryptic, why don’t you tell us what your problem with his church is?

The fan consensus is that “Issues” is the best. What kind of fan are you? LOL!

I never cared for Korn - even Bill the Son, metal nerd, didn’t like Korn - but I wish the gentleman well.

Other than the New Apostolic Reformation that I mentioned a couple of times? How about their association with Todd Bentley? Word Faith Movement? Take your pick.

Apples and oranges. Like comparing master of puppets to ride the lightning. To each his own. XD

It’s funny how you rattle off those things like they are household words to most people. 99.9% of the people don’t know what any of that is. I had to Google it all. And now that I have, I still don’t get the problem. It all still looks pretty “Christiany” to me . Anyway, the point is, if you had seen Brian Welch’s documentary or read any of his books you would know he is a sincere guy.

“It’s funny how you rattle off those things like they are household words to most people.”

It’s like any other subject. Has its own shorthand language. People who follow this stuff aren’t going to go into lengthy technical explanations when there’s plenty of sites for that.

” I had to Google it all. And now that I have, I still don’t get the problem.”

Sometimes we don’t realize how much we don’t know.

“Anyway, the point is, if you had seen Brian Welch’s documentary or read any of his books you would know he is a sincere guy”

His personal sincerity is irrelevant to what Bethel is teaching him. This is the same crowd that was running the “Toronto Blessing” until that blew up on them a decade ago.

The overall point is, most people are not as “down in the weeds“ about doctrine as you. I just see him as going to a Christian church in being sincere. That’s a good thing.

the Problem is christians get caught up in what a church is teaching and not in focusing on Jesus as their Savior and Lord in their life.

so, many of we christians add to the confusion (judging churches and publicizing it) which discourages unsaved or back slidden people from even attempting to try Jesus.

Once a person accepts Jesus - if they truly turn themselves over to Him, He will steer them to what is Truth and away from what is quasi bible or not the right path for what God has planned for them to do as their calling.

“His personal sincerity is irrelevant to what Bethel is teaching him.”

Brian’s personal sincerity about Jesus is vitally important to God. How can you know the reason’s Brian attends Bethel? God called many early Christians and even OT prophets to spend time/years among unbelieving, idol worshipping or lukewarm folks. How do you reach the lost if you don’t go to them?

like Joel osteen - he reaches people in a way, gets them thinking about God, plants a seed, softens a heart toward believing in Jesus. Does he preach deeply the word of God - no. I consider him - entry level, kindergarten Christianity. A first step - but a key step because without Salvation/Jesus alive in their heart, no further growth in Christian ways are even possible.

From there it’s on every individual person who accepts Jesus to get in the word of God and ask of GOD what HIS purpose/mission for them is, their part in His master plan.

Not all of us come into belief from the same situation or with the same brain/way of thinking or at the same time/age in life. So, it’s a given we all need to change various habits or things about ourselves, which lends itself to being at times in various churches or church groups.

I learned a lot from Celebrate Recovery years ago. I came to see it as flawed in some ways - CR can be a life long crutch for some people constantly thinking they need to attend - but very useful in helping me learn, forgive etc and step out of old self more and surrender my mind and life to things God wants me to do instead of my own path. Some people are called to be part of running CR meetings, great, it’s a help for many, but it doesn’t replace a person’s personal responsibility and relationship to what God’s plan is for the individual once Jesus sets them free of habits, hangups, etc.

The little I read and heard from Brian almost a decade ago - I applaud his becoming a christian and finding ways and places to share the Good News.
Eyes open, people receive revelation from God as they are willing and want deeper relationship with Him. Some christians will stay kindergarten/entry level, resist change from God and unfortunately never experience the fullness God may have had in store for them. It’s just how it is with free will/choice.

Corruption or false teaching has been around since forever - we need to stop being Pharisees and nit picking when we ourselves have many flaws/sins - Jesus didn’t even like those who did that.

Thanks for this conversation. I grew up with knowledge of God but when I first really accepted Jesus in mid life, I got hung up on “who is teaching right” and was afraid to attend the “wrong church” so I sought out answers from God and people, church leaders, went to lots of churches and various sorts of christian meetings etc and over time God helped me see don’t rely/expect His Truth from any people, thats what me personally reading the bible is for, but even the small kernals of His Truth (any where, any time they happen to be spoken or expressed) are each important in His plan of reaching those still lost.

We need bible scholars, teachers, preachers, but we moreso need indiviuals (on a big stage or one to one) willing to witness how God changed their life and that they are still works in progress so others on the fence will come home to Jesus and all God wants for them.

Like Trump, his old self life, his current self and continuing to change - not always in a perfect constant path. That’s what God’s mercy and grace are for- we are human. Some people want to only see Trump’s flaws, others see his change and good things he does. We can mock where he attends church or who he says he gets his spiritual help from but thank God we got him in office and he does seek help as he sees need to from God or Christian believing advisors.

When God tells you what he thinks of Brian be sure to let us know.
