The poles are reversing. This would likely increase volcanic activity. There are massive ridges of volcanoes running under the ocean. Increased activity there would warm the ocean as well as increase general volcanic vent releases ... and we probably wouldn’t know it.
After all, we’re studying Antarctica and only recently realized it is the most volcanic continent.
