It doesnt need to be so drastic. You fast every day when you sleep. Tag on a few hours to that. Eat dinner, then dont eat before bed, then that can give you a good 12 hours. Or do as I do, have your late night snack still. But eat breakfast at 12.
If you are healthy and slim, its still very good for you to give your digestion 12-14 hrs off. If you have weight to lose, its amazing.
I did a bunch of 3 day fasts in April and it did wonders for my blood test.
Of course that was April :)
I did a 24 hour dry fast the other day and lasted for 13 hours.
Ping.
For later
Fasting is also good spiritually because you’re forcing your unconscious mind to obey your conscious mind.
My wife and I have been intermittent fasting for several weeks now. Were doing daily fasting for the 16 hours from 7:00 pm to 11:00 am followed by eating allowed for the 8 hours between 11:00 am and 7:00 pm.
Its very easy with both on it at synchronized times.
I did a program and my church last year called Exodus 90. Part of that is holding to the Catholic fast/abstinence days. We did Wednesday and Friday fasting. My gut disappeared ... I felt better ... had more energy ... heart rate dropped a bit (had been a bit higher before Exodus). Might need to start doing that again as the gut has started to reappear.
I’m doing Keto with intermediate fasting and I’m down 40lbs in 6 months....ALL my blood/urine tests came back with improved markers, my acid reflux gone! My blood pressure pills cut in 1/2. My alcohol consumption down 95%
Have been fit entire life. Incorporating intermittent fasting = new level of life enhancement.
IMO, do it.
What is the point of no water ? I do 16-18 during the week and 20-24 on the weekends but no coffee or green tea (which also stimulate autophagy) would be a total non-starter.
Could thing you started the diet with a case a beer a day.
Good to read the positive experiences of others. I have found that even mild fasting from 7pm to 7am leads to gradual weight loss.
The benefits may not come from eating less, but when you cut the available time to eat from 16 hours to 8, or 7 days to 5, you definitely eat less.
Bump
Article refers to groups of women. I assume this works for us guys too? Thinking of giving it a try.
Ah, there’s a ton of stuff online about what no water does..killing off bad cells much faster blah blah...
but i’m never doing it again.
i’m too fat and dying for a dry fast will lead to a dry wake :)
And I'm only 30 pounds away from my New Year's Resolution to lose 25 pounds, so I feel for you... ;-)
NO COFFEE ? How dare you!
That’s different.
Congratulations on the success of your approach.
