If we still suffering the obama misadministration he’d be undercounting the domestic death rate.
I am inclined to think this is somewhere in the middle, also. I think that we have managed to contain it by and large, but we will get flare ups periodically. Like S. Korea and Italy. As long as we are diligent about putting out brushfires we can likely avoid any major conflagrations.
But countries like China and Iran - clearly suppressing the true figures - are going to be a problem.
Containment is key. Don’t panic, but prepare and be vigilant.
Don’t forget those machine guard armed road blocks in Italy. They are in on it too.

The flu is endemic. The odds of dying from it if you get it are 1:1000 roughly, year after year. It mostly kills old people or people with compromised immune systems. The Wuhan virus is not endemic, yet, and the point of all the preparation is to keep it that way. If it were to become endemic it would kill 1:50 of the people who contracted it based on the (totally understated) statistics from WHO and JHU. We don’t yet have a vaccine and even if it all goes according to plan, we won’t for months or even over a year.

Well, if you are a prepper, perhaps nothing. Otherwise, what does it hurt to have a few months of food and water supplies just incase there is a flare up in your town and you get stuck in a quarantine area? Hopefully that is the worst of it, and people can just hunker down for a little while like they are doing in Italy. However, if it does get bad and you told people not to “be silly” there will be more deaths and suffering. So get a few bulk bags of rice and beans and put it aside. You can eat it once all this fizzles out to nothing. It’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Well, being somewhere in the middle between the people saying this is the apocalypse and the ones saying this is nothing, I see EXACTLY the same behavior from the people dismissing this as nothing. Your own statement proves that.

It’s not the flu. Most of those 80,000 are in one city, by the way, that does not have 80,000 hospital beds. Most of the confirmed cases are in makeshift hospitals (death camps, sorry, but that is the reality) or locked into their own homes.
The crematoriums are running at triple capacity, minimum (I am basing that number on the assumption that the crematoriums normally run 8/7 but it is reported that they usually run 4/5), and the people working in them are reporting in excess of 100 bodies per day, running 24/7. And there are an additional 40 incinerators there to deal with “medical waste”. Right. So at least 4900 bodies per day (49 crematoriums in Wuhan) instead of the normal 800 or 900. Hmmm.
If the death total were as the Chinese have reported it, they could have handles the extra bodies with a couple of hours of overtime per week. They are lying. This is what happens when the medical infrastructure is overwhelmed. And with everybody that is even looking at China instead of Japan or Korea or Italy, nobody is even asking if the numbers from the other hotspots in China are accurate (let’s hope so). In any case, as long as we have containment and can focus on brush fires as they crop up, we’ll do okay, but if it gets loose on a large scale, a lot of people might die. A lot.
It’s not just the flu and dismissing it as such is dangerous.

Trump has this under control. Claims that its his fault, claims that this is some plot to take him out, both are baseless. As long as Trump handles this with authority it will work to his, and the American People’s, benefit (given the existing conditions). Why do you think he was so pissed that they brought those cases back without consulting him? Because he’s been in control for a while and somebody went off plan.
It’s easy to destroy the “Trump’s Fault” claims: “I told you we should be less dependent on Communist China. Now maybe the Democrats will stop obstructing my policies.”; “We really need to get that wall built NOW. Thanks, Democrats, for endangering the American people with our reckless disregard for border security.”; “Bernie Sanders wants to turn us into Communist China and look how that worked out for them!”
There is no reason to think that the Chinese would tank their own economy in some last ditch effort to unseat Trump. They could just wait a few years and go back to destroying our economy the way they used to. Yet they did tank their own economy. They know the real numbers and they are scared. Occam’s Razor.

Nope - 15 cases that ‘appeared’ in US (all contained and most already well) - the rest were purposely imported and quarantined and aren’t counted as US cases because they were sick before president Trump took care of Americans because....Americans.
These are confirmed infections.
