Most of these dire projections are based on the politically biased data from the COVID Act Now site.
That’s not the case here. Our local hospital systems (one is 8 hospitals..I forget the other but it’s similar) are being totally over-run ALREADY - and we had our first case roughly 2 weeks ago. Another week or two and we’re in HUGE trouble. And God help us in a month or two. (”Peak” here is not projected to be until mid May - so that’s two months out. We won’t be able to handle a fraction of the cases coming in within 2-4 weeks, let alone 2 months out).
We’re pretty much out of beds and ventilators. Going to get VERY ugly here very shortly.
And, FWIW I do agree the “Act Now” site has dubious origins at best. But I’m not talking about the site - I’m talking about what we and many other cities across the country are experiencing or expecting to experience.

THE NUMBERS JUST DON’T ADD UP: Nearly 500,000 Went to Hospital in 2018-19 Flu Season But Today There Are Not Enough Hospital Beds for Coronavirus Patients?
The MSM and Democrats claim there are not enough hospital beds for the current 85,000 people identified with the coronavirus, many of whom will never even enter a hospital due to their relatively minor condition. Also, in 2018-19 there were plenty of beds for the nearly 500,000 patients that spent time in hospitals, due to the flu.
Via the CDC – there were 490,000 hospitalizations during the 2018-2019 flu season.
Really, What is going on? The data just don’t add up.
And yet the media want you to believe the US will run out of hospital beds during the coronavirus.
The data to date show that most individuals with the coronavirus suffer from very mild conditions. The panic-driven Washington Post even reported that 82% of these individuals with the coronavirus suffer from mild conditions.
Assuming the remaining require hospitalization (which is unlikely but conservative), then only 15,300 people currently require hospitalizations across the US. Of course this too is conservative because many of these cases in the US are already recovered and the individuals no longer suffer from the virus from China.
In SOME locations (NY, MI, ..) there are not enough beds or enough vents. Maybe nationally there are, but no-one seems to be taking charge of re-allocating people, beds and vents as Cuomo has suggested doing after NY hits their peak.
This describes “on the ground” in the Detroit area. Both videos are well worth watching end to end.
In the first video, the ER nurse says “I just put my patient on the LAST VENTILATOR IN THE HOSPITAL at 7 AM this morning. We are now going to have to start making life and death decisions on who gets a ventilator and who doesn’t”..
I get the desire to be skeptical..but what some of us are seeing FIRST HAND IN OUR COMMUNITIES cannot be denied. These people are not actresses. These stories are not “fake news”.
This shit is TOTALLY REAL. Maybe it just hasn’t hit your own hometown yet - but when it does..bar the door, cuz it’s gonna get VERY ugly fast.
