Pfft. This clearly falls into the category of studies someone wasted a lot of money on.

The headline is not supported by the study. It found a correlation between vegan diet and depression. It does not and cannot tell which came first, or which causes which, if any. If a depressed person seeks to solve their problems by going vegan, going back to meat will not solve their problem.

Makes sense. I’d find a meat-free diet rather depressing.
That being said, is it that depressed people tend to become vegetarians, or that vegetarians tend to become depressed? Or maybe it’s just a depressing, vicious cycle.

Years ago a Freeper posted that his brother was a doctor and would shock his vegetarian patients by informing them that one of the effects of such a diet could be severe gas.

IMO, vegetarians become depressed. They become vegetarians while not depressed for some save-the-the-planet reason and end up becoming depressed as time goes on.

Counterpoint: Left wingers are both more likely to be depressed or to be vegetarians.
The factor in both is possibly the ideology affecting attitude or nutrition choices.

They are ALL depressed! No they are not.
To: Olog-hai
All this may be true.....but since I went on a beef-free diet 4 weeks ago I have slept better, have more energy, and poop better. And I only speak for myself.

Just to make sure we’re clear...my LOL was directed at the above, not at the prospect of these people being depressed.

Plenty of comments about bacon sandwiches on the article page, using either ketchup or “brown sauce” (what we would call steak sauce) as condiments.
