I don’t know terms of contracts and all but players get paid anyway right, even if nothing is played? Are their contracts valid still for their 2020 pay? So its the owners who are taking a bath now?

The virus. I think many would have handled this whole thing much differently if given the chance. The country has been nuked! Most of the virus was nefarious to economically ravage the nation.

“Well, it’s tough to pay people if you don’t have the revenue. “

Discussion points are now money and number of games. There will be a season; this will probably be decided on/by 6/2. In answer to your point - TV, TV, TV!

"An edit function would be nice."

Yes, lack of that has always been a major shortcoming of FR.

NASCAR is back and running. Bundesliga soccer is also kicking around now. NHL and NBA playoffs will likely displace the boys of summer this year. NFL seems to have missed the rona bullet so far.

I think guaranteed wages is far more common in the NBA. Maybe one of the reasons they were the first to cancel games which started an avalanche of canceled events. I don’t think it’s as wide spread in MLB.

They are going to blow it up over money. This will be as bad as 1994-95. Maybe worse.

Yup. People are not going to forget that they chose the almighty dollar over patriotism during a national crisis.

On the other hand Korean baseball appears to be gaining popularity. ESPN is moving the daily game telecasts from ESPN2 to the mother ship. The commentators were noting how these players appear to love the game and you don't see these money brawls happening.

I have a friend whose nephew is a bench utility player in MLB. The scuttlebutt I have is that a big factor in all of this is that a whole lot of MLB players are married to Karens who are convinced they’re all gonna die unless they can take the field in NASA space suits.

Well there’s the wild card in all of this, the players wives.

I can just imagine some of those conversations between players and wives. And give the ages of everyone involved, I’m sure many of the players have toddlers and small children at home. You can just imagine that they are afraid that the husband goes to the ballpark and he’s going to bring the virus home.

The MLB is not only going to seriously hurt the sport, but it could seriously hurt many Regional Sports Networks (RSN’s) in general because those RSN’s are closely tied to MLB teams.

Lots of Minor League Cuts (guys that would have likely been cut over the course of this season anyway)

So far my cousin in the Mets system is still listed on the roster.
