Oh never mind I read down the thread I know what you’re talking about.
Agree totally. Capitalism or whatever you want to call it — an economic system that basically sees people as good — is so superior it’s not even funny. Of course it does require people to live up to its expectations.
You mean pedaling it with your hands?

Cool! I hope you find what you’re looking for.
At the same time please don’t forget the devastating impact your use of this device might have on marginalized people of color.
“Veterans who have lost lower limbs seem to ride comfortably using hand-crank propulsion.”
I remember a book by Douglas Bader a British WWII
fighter pilot who flew despite losing both legs commenting he was surprised how much lighter you are without your legs.
No idea. I found the photo.

Don’t give up your hobbies!
Life would start losing its flavor. So, to compensate, you have to eat more of it. Ever more and more of it. Until, bloated on flavorless life, you sit in fate’s restaurant and someone offers you a wafer thin mint.
And we all know how that ends.
The Germans seem to have just invented one, but I wonder if it might not be hard for you given your hip and the need to balance?

Although I too really like that Champiot one! If only I didn’t live on a hill!
It's in German.
I’m not reading the rest of the replies so if this is a duplicate, pardon.
The search terms you need are “hand pedal” or “arm powered” referencing tricycles, quadcycles and/or wheelchairs.
I doubt anything in this class is going to be cheap or available locally, but I hope that you find what you need.

“Oh, yes. But a specialist has told me that such a surgery would be too risky, as it might lead to paralysis.”
BS, you need a new specialist. I know nothing of your condition however I had both my hips replaced and it was a Godsend, amazing the things that they can do these days. You won’t even need a scooter unless you just want one.
Unfortunately I think the specialist is correct. The geometry of my hip is rather unique (long story). So a hip replacement runs the risk of doing more harm than good.
But I thank you for your post, and for your desire to help. Freepers are amazing.
Thank you for your post. I did a little research into that varibike, and it just might fit the bill. As you noted, balance might be an issue. So Im thinking that welding on a side wheel (like a training wheel) might help.
Again, thanks.
Did you look at minimally invasive hip surgery? It is a small incision, and instead of replacing the entire joint, they put in coverings for the ball and socket that go between them. No cutting the Gluteus muscle, and recovery is a couple of days. But you need to make sure the doctor isn’t just doing regular surgery, trying to make the cuts as small as possible, and calling it minimally invasive. The real thing is supposed to be quite revolutionary.
> Did you look at minimally invasive hip surgery <
Thank you for suggesting that! My problem is that the hip socket mostly isnt there (long story). The last time I saw a specialist was maybe 10 years ago. I really should see one again. Even though I dont change much, modern medicine does.
:)
Is hip replacement surgery an option?
I was in severe pain before mine and now it feels like original parts...
