Hardrada is my favorite Viking, probably true of a lot of people, but the two Rogers who were Normans and ruled Sicily always seemed pretty interesting, and of course, amusing after the "fwee woderick" scene in "Life of Brian".

He taxed urine?

No wonder the wine tax was so low.

He was getting paid on both ends. Wine going in.....wine going out.

I’ve been there...took the family. It looks bigger now and with more restoration than I remember from 20 years ago.

There's another well-preserved Greek temple in Segesta, Sicily...a small amphitheatre also.

The Flavian Dynasty (only threee emperors) righted the Empire after the Nero fiasco. The Colosseum was built during those years, as was the Arch of Titus which commemorated the destruction of Jerusalem. Both survive in pretty good condition, considering the age. The conquest of Ireland was apparently being planned, and the conquest of the rest of Scotland was left unfinished, probably due to the relative cost versus the utter lack of any worthwhile resources.

Looks like they’re really doing it right, preserving the site under a modern structure.

Flavian?

Don’t be dragging any rappers into this.

Next, you’ll be telling me Vanilla Ice was remodeling this place.

He was inspecting the exterior while Sug hung him upside down off the balcony. Dirty job, someone's gotta do it.

Maybe you and I were switched at birth.

Have you ever had a craving for jellied fish?
