Corporations do philanthropic community outreach. Most set aside budgeted amounts for just that purpose.

Do they have ulterior motives? That’s a resounding yes, it part of public and community relations. If they are going to spend money they owe their stockholders that any money spent goes to improving the brand.

That doesn’t lessen the fact that its a nice gesture....

My dad had a brand new 1965 Plymouth Fury II station wagon with the 3rd rear-facing seat. We’d go to the local drive-ins and park backwards, flip up the back seat and flip down the tailgate and even sometimes throw a blanket on the ground for us kids. Hook a speaker in the side window and smell the fresh summer air at the movies!

Simple times, so unlike today...
