Its a stupid song.
He should be grateful anyone still plays or listens to it.

The lyrics of that song are actually about fomenting street violence. Sort of an odd choice in the first place.

How much did Eddie sue Google which owns Youtube for all the people who illegally uploaded his song? If I was a musician I would be pretty ticked off that a multi-billion dollar company is making billions in ad revenue from copyrighted music and I wasn’t selling any records because of people going to Youtube to download or stream it for nothing.

It plays when Biden’s handcar comes on so that makes perfect sense actually.

That's actually not the law. Far from it.

That ship sailed with Napster in the 90’s. Artists today make just about all of their money from touring or from licensing their music for use in movies and such. The consumer market is dead so far as royalties are concerned.

Anything that will stop the playing of “Electric Avenue” will lessen human suffering.

Well, no... you can’t. You can’t just take someone’s work and put it on a TV commercial, or even air it on the radio without some kind of licensing agreement.

The video is only 54 seconds long, but “fair use” is very subjective.

Suffer from anyone knowing who the heck he is?
No one knew his name when the song was popular!

One of the worst songs ever. That and Double Dutch Bus.

This reminds me of when Paul McCartney was all upset that Michael Jackson bought the Beatles Catalog. If you don’t want people using your music, buy the rights to it.

I was listening to an old Casey Kasem Top 40 show from the 70's the other day and they played Telephone Man by Meri Wilson.
Now THAT was an all-time stinker for the ages!

What was that great Eddie Grant song after Electric Avenue? Yeah, thats a trick question.
While it wasn't a great song, 'Romancing the Stone', which was included in the 1980s movie of the same name was a decent tune. This put Eddie Grant on the "Two for Tuesday" list instead of the One Hit Wonders.
Outside of that song, yeah, no Eddie Grant.
