Since it hasn’t been posted yet, Rigg’s character was so named because, having “it” (sexiness) back in the early 60s was described as “man appeal” or, abbreviated “m appeal”.
That’s how Emma Peel got her name.
Now thats an interesting bit of trivia.
Wow, I had not realized Diana Rigg was Olena Tyrell. You are right a terrific character. Hollywood screwed up G of T like they do everything. It was great series but the PC BS ruined it. By the end of season six women ran every kingdom, as if.
She was also excellent as Lady Dedlock in the BBC adaptation of “Bleak House” (1985).
Yes, the last two seasons were a disaster. total shlock. It was merely the expectation of a resolution of the previous six seasons that carried it across the finish line.
Honestly, she was an attractive lady well into her age.
Rest in Peace.
The dragons stole the show in GOT—even leftist PC couldn’t mess with that...
(RIP, Emma Peel)
I also recommend “Theatre of Blood”, where she co-starred with Vincent Price.
RIP Emma Peel.
It was very well written, and I agree with you, her role and acting really shined.
Rest in peace Dame Diana
They don’t make ‘em like that, anymore. RIP.
That is truly interesting
The Avengers was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. Mrs Peel was smoking hot!
She was also the inspiration of the spoof character Mrs. Kensington in the 1997 film Austin Powers.
Another one of my fantasy loves has gone. I’m sad. I hope she knows Jesus.
The big secret of the show was that Mrs. Peel was the best screen depiction of a dominatrix. Brits have long been fascinated by them, which meant a lot of adult men were riveted to the screen as well.
Looking at The Avengers again, you can catch a lot of the subtle hints about this from her attitude and facial expressions. Some very fine acting.
I loved "Game of Thrones" but cringed and rolled my eyes at some of the PC-ness of it all.
On a related note, for years, I passed up "Vikings" (streaming on Amazon) assuming that it was just a cheap GoT knockoff.
Nonetheless, I sat down recently and decided to check it out. I couldn't have been more wrong about this TV show. I was hooked from the first episode. Absolutely epic in every way and the battle scenes are as massive and bloody as anything on "Game of Thrones". Perfect viewing for a big screen TV.
And the best part, no PC bullish*t. In fact, many strong Christian characters. I can't recommend "Vikings" enough, particularly to those who are fans of epic sword battles.
Thanks, I have been wondering about The Vikings. I’ll check it out. What the he’ll happened to the actual Vikings? Sweden is run by radical feminists, where did the real men go?
