The election of 1800 is the reason for the 12th Amendment. Jefferson and Burr each received the same number of votes—even though Jefferson was running for President and Burr for VP. The Founders did not account for political parties in their original plan for electing President.

Burr saw this as a chance to win the Presidency, but was thwarted in this by Hamilton’s urging Representatives to vote for Jefferson rather than Burr. Perhaps one reason why VP Burr shot and killed Hamilton in a duel.

In any case, Biden’s dropping out before the Electoral vote would put democrat Electors into a bit of a bind. Vote for Harris? Who wanted her to be President? Vote for democrat-approved replacement for Biden? In any case there would likely be chaos. Don’t know how the public would react to an unelected last-minute Biden replacement.

But a massive Trump victory makes all of these scenarios moot.

I have a confession l am relying on my wife’s account of this. I did not actually see it. So I am not sure you and her are talking about the same moment or more likely he has gotten really good at reading the scripts

If I were Biden I would answer most questions with the lyrics to “Old McDonald’s Far,m.” Then during the debates I would become Einstein.

You guys seem to think he and his handlers are stupid. Trump should run as if this guy is a 40 year old Political genius. And he should never let up.

My brother mentioned to me the other day that he noticed it looked like the same tall black man that used to follow Hillary around on the campaign trail is now following Biden around. He was supposed to have been some doctor shooting her up to keep her going. Has anyone noticed this? I was hoping to get a glimpse of Biden out and about with the entourage, but since he mentioned that, I’ve yet to see him other than for a few moments walking away from his podium not taking questions.

Some people have argued that Joe Biden is so low energy, disappears for days at a time, and was clearly declining and ill even before the race started - that its all actually a deep-state plot to elect Trump.

Given how pathetic his campaign is, I’m starting to believe it.

No, it doesn’t work that way. Too late for the dnc to pick a candidate under that scenario, it could be the electors from the states voting for Biden will be free to vote for whoever, Harris, Hillary, or Bernie.

Thanks for posting, now that I have watched it I think we are looking at someone who is completely dependent on prepared text. He is still good splitting focus giving the impression he is just using bullet points but take the paper and he would be hopelessly lost. That said, I still say he is just good enough to pull this off with all the help he will continue to get from all sides.

He won’t make it to the election. Internal circuitry will fry before then

I wonder if he has to go into some kind of atmospheric decompression process every time he flies. I know people who have suffered serious brain injuries are often told by their doctors not to fly.

...No. You vote for a candidate. The candidate appoints the electors...

Article II Clause 2 contradicts your belief.

Electoral College

Clause 2. Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress; but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

The Electors are chosen by the states but a pledged to a particular candidate. The candidate does not select the Electors.

It is too late to replace Biden in Pennsylvania. The Green party was taken off the ballot because they changed their presidential candidate. So the president has been set.

What about those who voted during open voting. Are those votes counted towards the new candidate who was not on the ballot prior to Election Day?

The electors vote for the person who won on Election Day. If that name is replaced, those during early voting are tossed.

The lector’s vote for the WINNER of each state. The candidate winning 270 electoral vote wins.

It has been done before at state level in New Jersey. I think this election will go to the Supreme Court anyway and Roberts will vote for Biden if his is the swing vote. If there are five votes for Constitutional progression then other than Roberts, he will make it 6-4.

Unlike Senate races, Presidential races are for Electors to the Electoral College, not the named candidate.

The candidates' names are there for convenience, but the voter is voting for a slate of Electors. If the candidate drops out after votes are cast, those votes still go to the Electors represented by the candidate's name on the ballot.

Voting should be returned to one day in person by identified voters with added no absentee ballots or early or late voting. Military should get on base voting stations with voter specified state attributions.
