I, like you, thought Zardoz was a true stinker of a movie. The first time I saw it I had absolutely no idea as to what it was about. I have since seen it about 2 or 3 times. It’s still a stinker of a movie, but at least I understand it better.

What a fantastic career and tribute thread. I am stunned at how much of his career came before his iconic James Bond roles.

Thank you! I'll see if I can find it on one of our stream services.

I'm also interested in the Robin and Marian film with Audrey Hepburn, which I have never even heard of... she's one of my favorite actresses.

Ursula Andress.
The only Bond Girl who made James Bond sing.

Yes, unfortunately. From Wikipedia:

“Connery died in his sleep on 31 October 2020, aged 90, at his home in Nassau in the Bahamas.[1][2] His death was announced by his family and Eon Productions that same day;[114] his son stating that he had been unwell for some time.[114][115]”

I didn’t know until this thread, and am very sad. But he lived a good life and entertained tens of millions...not a life to be regretted.

That's also my favorite Connery film. The theme song is also one of my favorite movie theme songs, although it's annoying that although it is sung in Russian, the singers are obviously not Russian-speakers.

I give the song an American interpretation. When they sing, "in October, we reported our victories; in October, our ancestors gave us a new world," I assume it refers to the Battle of Yorktown in October, 1781.

In 1971 I went to see some movie, and it turned out to be part of a double feature with The Anderson Tapes. A very underrated crime caper that showed Connery could be smooth without having to be Bond.

He made it to 90.
I can’t say much more right now.

Not from a movie, but I betcha didn't know Connery was a body builder.

Yeah, I knew he was a bodybuilder. It’s why he looks so beefy/brawny in his earliest roles.
