There need to be very heavy penalties for cheating. Any candidate who cheats or knowingly allows others to cheat for him must automatically be disqualified from the election. This INCLUDES INCUMBENENTS WHO WOULD IMMEDIATELY BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE AND FORBIDDEN TO HOLD ELECTIVE OFFICE IN THE FUTURE. THIS PENALTY NEEEDS TO BE NAIONWIDE AND AT EVERY LEVEL.
Absentee ballots must arrive at the BOE no later than i week prior to the election so they can be counted and NO ballots accepted after midnight the day of the election.
These silly runoff elections need to be scraped too.

Please consider an admittedly more difficult, but much more effective approach to fixing the election system imo.

Repeal the ill-conceived 17th Amendment (17A). (The 16th Amendment can disappear too.)

Simply put, constitutionally low-information voters have been abusing their 17A voting power for many generations. They abuse their voting power by electing corrupt federal senators who get themselves elected with promises of constitutionally indefensible social spending programs, misguided voters consequently weakening constitutional restraints on the federal government’s powers.

The problem is that voters evidently don’t understand that programs that senators promise to them are wrongly based on stolen state powers and uniquely associated state revenues, revenues stolen by means of unconstitutional federal taxes.

In other words, voter abuse of 17A powers have effectively nullified the Constitution’s Article V amendment process imo.

Insights welcome.

The income tax was the worst amendment to the Constitution. At least the ban on booze was repealed.

Odd is it not that Mexico a most corrupt nation has one of the most honest and sure election systems in the world.

1. You have a valid government issued ID for voting.
2. If you do not have this you do not vote.
3. You vote and just hours later you know who won.

Absentee and mail in voting etc. is a no. The votes that count are those that show up and vote.

In today's environment of a mobile society you would
disenfranchise many citizens. Early in person voting
takes care of some of that but not all.
