Then, head back to your primary Settings screen and scroll down. You should see a new “Developer options” section near “About phone.” Tap on it, and then look for the “Automatic system updates” option. Make sure it's not enabled. That should prevent your phone from receiving automatic updates. But to be super-super sure, you can also purchase and sideload the Package Disabler Pro app. You'll then use this to disable your device's Software Update feature, which will keep it on the current version of your operating system forevermore.
In mine, I "System and Updates" then appeared on the main setting menu above about phone. In that is "Developer Options" which has the switch for "Automatic System Updates" which can be switched off. Thanks for the info!

The frequencies around 6950 are popular with pirate radio. If things should go south I will be keeping an eye on that part of the spectrum.

No kidding. Just as much credibility as tennis shoes hanging from power/phone lines are marking gang territory, or flashing your headlights at night at an incoming car with its high-beams on gets you murdered because it’s a gang initiation thing, like getting your kidney removed in a hotel somewhere after being drugged by a beautiful woman. . .and many other urban myths.

Thanks it worked. But is there some security risk with Developer Mode being left on.
After disabling updates should developer mode be turned back off?

it sounds tinfoily cause it’s completely silly. There’s nothing to gain from them turning off the EBS on phones. There’s a million other EBS channels. And nothing that actually matters goes out on EBS. I turned it off on my phone. Really folks, stop believing rando BS.

Are they serious?
Maybe Apple will disable it until Jan. 20, 2021 at 12:01pm?
Or maybe they’ll disable it after then in order to prevent the user from receiving garbled messages like “Trimunaladimaprzure!”

In mine, I "System and Updates" then appeared on the main setting menu above about phone. In that is "Developer Options" which has the switch for "Automatic System Updates" which can be switched off. Thanks for the info! On mine after tapping on the build number numerous times the "developer options" appear on the bottom of the settings screen.

I turned developer mode off after I reset automatic updates to off. And found it was off, but I can at will repeat the procedure to get developer mode turned back on.

"sounds a bit too tinfoil" Yep!
Just as warnings of the communists rigging the Presidential election was received...
Or that Americans could be threatened with a purge based on their views...
Or that DC would be seriously advanced as a state...
Or that the right to worship as you see fit be lost...
Etc...
Etc...
