The NIV has some more interesting interpretations of the Greek than The Message sometimes. The word “emasculate” in Galatians 5:12 is translated from Greek apokopsontai, which literally means to amputate (the context is with respect to “preach(ing) circumcision”). And as I noted at the start of this thread, “dogs” in Matthew 15:26 and Mark 7:27 is translated from Greek kynarion, which literally means “puppies”.

In this instance, I’d think ‘interesting’ should be ‘accurate’.
