There’s a lot of straw men in your argument. Be that as it may, could you please address why UK police seem to be so much more competent in this regard than US police?

As I said, they arrest people with knives all the time and those arrests RARELY result in the death of the suspect or police (the UK has only lost a half dozen cops in the line of duty in the last five years, only one of whom was stabbed in a surprise terror attack).
The suspect was told to stop, drop the knife several times and then he took a couple steps right towards the cop. The suspect was clearly advancing on the cop when shot.
You should re-read my original comment, sport. The example I gave was EXACTLY about the UK.

Had a cat once that used to get kicks out of flicking the spring door stop in the middle of the night... :-)

Of course you weren't.
In the US, impact weapons (blackjacks, clubs, etc.) are not allowed for use by cops.
The left are suggesting cops use foam batons, similar to Nerf products.
I don’t know how well UK cops do against knifemen but the Brits sure do seem to lose a lot of civilians to them.
I think the world is likely better off without anyone stupid enough to pull a knife on a cop.
