That reminds me, I need to clean my espresso machine. BTW, a product called Cafiza is the best stuff ever for cleaning coffee oils and residue. Recommended.

https://www.amazon.com/Urnex-Espresso-Machine-Cleaning-Powder/dp/B001418KNS

A bottle lasts me a few years.

Now headed to the garage for an 8mm socket on a ratchet to disassemble the group head on the espresso machine.

The Chiefs' Mess on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) used regular old Maxwell House just like you can buy in the store and brewed in a machine that looked something like this:

I am advancing the hypothesis that really good coffee produces communists. I challenge anyone to refute it.

Mrs. BlackElk has been drinking gallons of good coffee for 40+ years when she can afford it (uses a Melitta), and she is as conservative as her husband was (with a wider libertarian and Anglophilic streak).

I have been drinking fine coffee since I was engaged to a girl who worked in a very good coffee shop in 1990. Most people regard me as conservative as ever.

See post #11 above for "Lifeboat Coffee", Pro-Life, Pro-2A, non-masky, and the local Phoenix cops drink there as they are welcome.

There was and Iam sure is a 60 cup Urn in the Line Shack at the CG air station that was never cleaned, coffee was added when it needed water that was it. Basket got full it was dumped and the process started all over again.

In Florida, the best coffee to be had now comes from RaceTrac convenience stores that have grind and brew to order machines. Since the machines are self-serve, there is no need for Starbucks baristas with tats and piercings and woke politics.

We buy green Legacy Coffee which is from Hondorus. I get it because I‘m into Buy Local and it is managed out of a business in Kansas. Our son gave us a roaster for Christmas so I roast it and grind it and it‘s pretty good.

In the Air Force, lifers were often referred to as “maggots” and coffee as “maggot juice.” I never drank coffee in the Air Force.

While I don’t remember the taste, I do remember the coffee served in the galley at Kunis Facility on Oahu was always lukewarm. But then that was true of any service chow hall I was ever in.

I loved Army SOS, 2 pieces of toast, put a blanket of scrambled eggs over them and then smother them in SOS, ummm, ummmmm!

Warms you up on a cold morning.

I do not drink coffee but an interesting tale of how Vienna roast coffee came about is interesting. .
In 1529, The Ottoman Turk Suleiman laid siege on Vienna. He failed to capture the city and his soldiers fled, leaving behind thousands of bags of coffee. The Viennese did not know how to preserve the coffee beans so they roasted them and “Vienna Roast” was born.

Depends on what your pallet likes for coffee.
The flavors vary as much as wine and beer and pizza.

I like mine dark, full-bodied, and toasted and not acidic.

Latin Expresso brands are my thing:

La LLave
El Aguila
NavierA
Pilon

Or Brazilian:

Pilao
3 Corações

All are great. But you need an expresso machine for them.

navy coffee sucks but I would like a set of cups

The Wardroom (where officers eat) has the best stuff. You can buy it yourself.

Only about $100 for a single full-size dinner plate. A coffee cup and saucer will set you back a little less.

Cafe Bustelo, expresso grind. Use like regular through a filter machine.
Sello Rojo every once in awhile. Very tasty! Hafta buy online.
Used score Sello Rojo and Dorada whenever I ventured to CO, but that life is over.
Cant find Dorado for sale anymore.

Years ago I was told, by someone in a position to know, that the White House and Air Force One keep it American-made and serve only good quality Kona coffee. Of course I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Biden now buys it from some third world crap hole…

They say that in the Army, the coffee’s mighty fine. But it looks like muddy water, and tastes like turpentine.

"Sound off, 1, 2...sound off, 3, 4"

"Bring it on down"

"1, 2, 3, 4....1, 2, 3, 4!"
