I do remember it. Don’t know if that was the exact name but close.
IIRC it was called “Standard Sales”.....at least that was the name of the stores that had that business model where I am
While of course what the thieves did was wrong, I have little sympathy for anyone who has a watch stolen that is worth more than $500. You are just asking for it to get stolen. And there is no practical use in owning such a watch, or any kind of jewelry worth beyond a token amount.
Headline is misleading. They stole the watches from a showcase inside a car dealership. Buy a Lamborghini and get a free Rolex or something.
Nothing inherently wrong with being rich, but in these lawless times, if you’re going to flaunt it, you better have good security.
Chicago, so even if caught it will only be a misdemeanor.
Chicago, you reap what you sow.
Lamborghini go for 2 - 300k and go up from there

This was at a dealership - I cut the title off because it was too long.
Watches are a pain. I wouldn’t pay a dime for any one of them.
Oh, not quite as I had thought.
Those display cases need some heavier grade of glass, seems to me. Mallet-Proof.
Does it tell time in Gstaad?
Not if you watch the video. Saw it last night on YouTube
The owner is really pissed at Groot and Fox and appreciated that his security guard didn’t shoot with other people around, even with the looters in his sights
This was a smash and grab in broad daylight
They feel untouchable these days
Not driving a car. Walked into the showroom , broke a glass window showcase with high end trinkets, grabbed the watches and ran out
All while people were around
They’re on eBay right now labeled as something else.
This isn’t shoplifting cosmetics from the local bodega. And these aren’t going to turn up at a local pawnbroker, either. In Chicago, though, it’s starting to look like business as usual.
I have gotten past the point of being interested in expensive things.
I want quality, something that will last.
The problems with pouring money into expensive items is that you have to worry about them being stolen and if you go to sell them, you will NEVER get what you are told their value is.
Nobody is going to buy it for anywhere near it’s alleged value, so you are stuck with a financial loss of something that probably has some intrinsic value, but you can never recoup on.
I was at Bloomingdale’s yesterday and everything was in the back of the store, with only a few items in a glass case but nothing I would ever buy anyway..
We left because we couldn’t just impulse buy.
Went to Jomashop.com and bought it.
Should arrive tomorrow...
Feel sorry for my buyer at Bloomingdale’s. She’s been my go to person for 25 years and now she is reduced to helping us find things in a magazine, then ordering it...
