You must have a window, so the grass gets some natural light.

Something I’ve noticed in the various places that I’ve lived: Bathrooms that have a window, even if it’s never opened, don’t seem to grow any mold in the grout. Those that don’t have a a window have a mold problem.

What manufacturer and model number ?

You may have a pressure balance valve which is only to balance the flow between hot and cold water, for example if someone flushes the toilet while you’re showering. Most valves will not compensate for the pressure drop on the cold side and the shower head water would get hotter. There is also “scald guard” types of valves.

If you get me that info (make and model) I’ll get you the correct answer if it’s a quality valve. If I don’t know the answer right off I can bounce off one of the techs at my old plumbing company

I usually cruise FR a couple times a day

I know you’ve already bought a new head, but consider the Speakman Anystream. They used to be in many of the hotels I stayed at and I loved that head. I tore out the junky little head we have in the house we bought and replaced it with the Speakman. The flow restrictor is easy to remove. The head puts out big, soft drops of water in a big spray. Highly recommended.

What, if anything, is the difference between a regulator and restrictor?

The difference is how good the chinese guy that's translating the instruction booklet is at writing english. Realistically there's no difference, if it's got something that's restricting the flow then drill it out. "When in doubt, drill it out!"

I can also vouch for the Speakman Anystream, that's what I put in my shower (the flow restrictor went in the garbage). There are multiple models, you don't have to get the $115 one, there are cheaper ones that work just as well.

I stay in hotels about 90-100 nights a year. One thing many have improved on is shower heads. You know they are all about saving money. Many have gotten good with low volume showerheads that actually work.

Waterpik is common. The places I stay certainly don’t spend $120 on a showerhead.

Some that I see are probably made solely for the hospitality market.

If you don’t have one, I would consider getting a water softener as well as it’ll help with the rinse of soap out of your hair.

What I bought back in Sept. I live in California and they block higher flowing faucets!!

You can get the same model for 2.5 GPM for other states.
I fixed mine by drilling the holes slightly bigger. If you take out the restricter it is too much pressure.

LOL! I only watched that series a few times, but Kramer was my favorite character.

(I’d like to have a Commando 450...)

Thanks. If this one doesn’t do what we want, we’ll look into your suggestion.

Do they make one that converts to a hand-held, or a double-one that has both? We’ve found that useful.

I meant off of WORK. It’s called vacation/holiday time.

That’s pleasurable enough, for hard working nine-to-fivers.

Merry Christmas!

Sorry, I really can’t help you.

But a plumber once told me that you only need to know three things to be a plumber.

Excrement runs downhill.

The boss is an SOB.

And payday is Friday.

I’ve had to avail myself of the services of good plumbers a couple of times, and I’ve been very grateful for them.

They need to know a LOT more than what you suggest :-).

It’s pricey, but worth every penny in my opinion.

None of the ridiculous air-entrained water with little jets that hurt. Just big gentle drops like we used to get out of every shower head before the nanny-state got into our bathrooms.

Looks like lots of Speakman shower products to choose from (note each page has links to other pages at the bottom). I've only bought their shower head.

Speakman Shower and Tub Accessories

Speakman Shower Systems

I think it has both. It has a springy, diaphragm-looking thing, AND a flow restrictor - at least, according to the instruction sheet (we haven’t taken it apart, yet.)

I’ll let everyone know when we install it.
