That audio of the pilot asking the tower to turn up the runway lights, with the tower telling him they’re at 100%, followed by the pilot screaming leads me to think he wasn’t where he thought he was.
He was definitely out of control and looked like he was on fire and in a spin.
Why do people need a private jet to travel what is less than a 2 hr drive ? Kobe also chose to fly what could have been easily driven.
Omg. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just watching those scarred me for life. Dear Gd.
The birds were grounded in that weather.
And right after they responded that the runway lights were on, there were two sounds. I can’t describe them but like bumps / hits / dull contact sounds. Then he screams like he knows he’s dying (o sh**) and the plane twirls nose down to earth. Ghastly. Something happened up there. What were those noises?
I wonder if all he was trying to do in the end was to avoid hitting a residential area.
I initially thought it was the thump of the gear being lowered, but then I listened again and turned up the volume. After the thump is a weird sound like an engine straining to run (reminded me of a 60s ray gun sound). It does sort of sound like a strike of some sort may have taken out an engine.
Reported to be an air ambulance flight.
I’m just guessing that he hit power lines, like tower lines, not utility poles.................
Although the new report I viewed reported that it was an air ambulance flight, the call sign in the air traffic recording did not identify the aircraft with the word “Lifeguard” before the tail number. Maybe the flight was arriving to pick up a patient.
“ I wonder if all he was trying to do in the end was to avoid hitting a residential area.”
Of course. That’s training
The voice recorder picked up a sound like a gunshot just before he screamed. There was no stall warning, which I assume would have been included in a plane of that caliber.
My dad was a Navy pilot for 28 years. After he retired, he taught ground and flight training at a civilian flight school.
He told me quite a few of his students were doctors and lawyers. He said some of them were pretty arrogant and didn’t seem to respect how important all of the facets (especially the safety measures) of the training were. He kind of worried about those who passed the class.
Spent 20years Flying out of Gillespie with a pilot Buddy. Piper Cubs,Luscombes

Thump,
I heard it.
That’s a bad thing to
Happen while Aviating.
Old Pilots and Bold Pilots,
But No Old,Bold Pilots.
right? and the weird thing is, it IS a THUMP... not a metallic sound at all
“He kind of worried about those who passed the class. “
I heard many years ago the hot/fast general aviation aircraft being called “doctor killers” due in no small part to the arrogance of the pilots.
