Welcome to the wonderful world of American trademark law. If you do not “vigorously defend” your trademark you lose it. Which means you have to file a lot of stupid lawsuits and ceases to have a judge say “that’s not a trademark violation”. Cause if you don’t when somebody DOES violate your trademark you could wind up with a judge saying “you’ve allowed a lot of trademark violations in the past, too bad on this one”.
Honestly the filmmakers should have seen this coming and sought permission. Save everybody trouble.
This will fail. Apple is a generic name even though is is trademarked. Won’t hold up in court.
Unless there is more to this story than it seems, this is one of the dumbest things ever - but it has competition. there was an article posted here yesterday about a lawsuit over companies battling it out over what could be called “Mexican food”
