Yes. Ralph Lauren gown did nothing for her.
If Ricky Gervais were hosting I would definitely watch his opening monologue. But Wanda Sykes and Amy Schumer and some actress I have never heard of? What the hell were they thinking? Viewership will be at an all-time low. Schadenfreude for that.
Either one of those two can alienate an audience just by showing their face.
“you like me, you really like me.”
Sally Field...1985.
Was that it?
I saw an ad, for this year’s Oscars, the other day. Haven’t watched them, in at least over a decade.
What was striking....was that all three women (?) looked like they had seriously horrid work done, on their faces. No idea who they were/are, but....they looked SCARY!
One was holding popcorn, can’t recall anything about the other two.
I’ve never watched the awards shows, but when has that ever stopped a freeper from having an opinion?
The best choices for Best Picture: CODA, Drive My Car, and Belfast. The two to avoid, because half of America would read them as a deliberate insult: The Power of the Dog and Don’t Look Up.
The woke crazies will block vote for the aggressive culture war insult. The sane people will split their votes among the remaining eight pretty decent films. This is how destructive but highly motivated factions wield outsized influence.
Oh...I read too fast. You meant the pitiful Gwyneth.
Someone always cries anyway.
The last Oscar’s I watched, “Braveheart” won Best Picture. Movies are dead.
Power of the Dog is a dog of a movie, but I bet Cumberbatch will get an award for playing the repressed homo cowboy.
The two movies I liked were “Free Guy” and “Nightmare Alley”.
“Being the Ricardos” was a terrible bore.
The girl who played Tammy Faye in the biopic, Jessica Chastain,
definitely deserves Best Actress.
The last oscar show I watched, The Sting with Paul Newman won best picture. I thought that was cool because they were up against The Exorcist, a movie I thought was nasty. I was in college in Nashville.
The Oscars and other awards shows are just dead. “Mama’s Family” reruns from 40 years ago get higher ratings, and are a helluva lot funnier. Bruce Vilanch hasn’t had anyone decent to write for since Paul Lynde died.

I’d be shocked if they didn’t have Beleskey host it live from Kiev.
Dune is up for 10 Oscars. That is all I care about.
Since I’m one that thinks the 1984 version is a masterpiece, I’m not much on any of the later remakes.
But this deserves an Oscar...

FX’s “Spiros” gets better ratings.
Did you see this? https://www.lamag.com/culturefiles/are-the-oscars-over-2/
Free Guy was a fun movie. Nothing about it really caught my eye but enough freepers recommended it on the movie threads that I thought it might be worth checking out. It turned out to be a lot better than I was expecting.
Haven’t seen Nightmare Alley yet.
No one will watch unless they feel like they have to. People are starting to get wise to Hollywood, though it will take something more than wise-ness to destroy it.
Yes, and it was by Ralph Lauren, who usually designs classically appealing looks. That, plus her hairstyle, were memorably awful.
This site says "...Gwyneth didn’t work with a stylist, and simply went to the Ralph Lauren a few days prior to the event to pick something out. It originally came with a corset-like top, which was switched for the more wearable one we know and love."So that explains it. This insufferable lifestyle advisor messed with one of the greatest American designers of the past century, and it showed. As for the hair, it made her look like Fred Astaire.
