Smith is coming off as a ‘I was just defending my love’ type in this speech.
That would be the definition of an awkward moment. Imagine if Rock had been presenting the Oscar. :)
He could have challenged him to a fight in a ring with gloves, charged admission, and then given the money to charity (like we did when we met after school to settle differences or get satisfaction for an insult, but w/o the money), but to hit him in public on impulse was very very bad.
Books are WAY better. You get to base the scenes in your mind based on the writing and not on a budget strapped, group of egocentric actors, directors, producers, and marketing geniuses, and wokeness Nazi’s.
For the best example I can give, read BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES by Tom Wolfe, then watch the movie.
Speech by Will Smith...He was crying...He did apologize...Kind of...
It was a memorable speech...
Hey at least no guns or a drive by. I think Biggie and Tupac would have settled for a punch.
I hope “he” doesn’t get ovarian cancer. Cause men don’t get ovarian cancer and there are no controlled studies for treatment of ovarian cancers in males.;There would be no guidelines.
Yes, indeed, it is disappointing how Will Smith reacted...
BEST ACTRESS...Jessica Chastain...EYES OF TAMMI FAYE...I have not seen the movie...But, I do remember who Tammi Faye was...
Annoying and stupid speech about thr FL bill.
Chastain gave a shockingly non-political speech. Not too bad really.
Coda wins.
I read the book, and it was great.
They totally screwed that movie up and it was terrible. They tried to have some comedy in it, but the book was not that way. They even changed the judge in the movie to Black whereas in the book he was Jewish.
It’s unwatchable to me, even now.
I do remember the movie version...Tom Hanks was in the movie...
BEST PICTURE...CODA...Not DUNE...
Maybe I will try to watch CODA in the future...
I find it mildly hilarious that ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye’ won the Oscar for makeup and hair...considering that Tammy Faye Bakker used to put the stuff on with a trowel.
Oh Please! Who the Hell cares what he did.
None of the favs won, and it’s kinda good. Will Smith smack will be always remembered.
Sounded like she was trying to inject politics, mentioning “certain legislation” obviously referring to the FL bill, but the whole thing was too long and it came out flat.
From Sesame Street?
Oscar Meyer, maybe? My bologna has a first name and all that. 😏
CODA: Best Picture, excellent choice.
Y’all go out and watch this one. Sure it’s a genre film, but so what. Genres become genres because they tell timeless stories that bear retelling. This one if different enough to be fresh. It’s funny. The whole cast is excellent. Emilia Jones is perfect: the right actress at exactly the right age in exactly the right role; this year’s perfect Girl Next Door. Not political. Not woke. Happy ending. See it.
A better question is: WTH are you doing on this thread?
